Traditions???? On or off the ship

Saw this posted and thought it was interesting. Do you or your family have any traditions you would like to share??

In Japan, you NEVER pour your "OWN" drink, such as beer. In Japan, beer
comes to your table in a large bottle, like the size of a wine bottle.
So one bottle is enough for several people. You pour the beer for your
friends into their glasses, but never fill your own glass. Your friend
must fill your glass. So you put the bottle down after you fill theirs,
and someone else fills your glass. But you shouldn't fill your own
glass.

On the other hand, if someone else starts filling glasses, and then puts
the bottle down before filling their own, you need to be aware that you
have to fill their glass - as their friend.

In Japan, it's important to have friends... or you end up with an empty
glass.

I learned a long time ago, in my youth, when I was at the University of Guanajuato in Mexico, that, in their culture, when someone admires something of yours, it is considered proper to give it to them! Imagine my horror when I admired a pretty silver serving dish at the home of friends, and they insisted that I take it! I learned in a hurry to be very careful with what I said!
