I've waited 9 months to post this message . Our 4th grandchild was born last night.
Donald John Parsons entered the world at 4:06 pm and is 9 pounds and 21 inches.
Donald is named for great grandfathers on both side of his family and for my brother.
We figure he will be USMA Class of 2024 and will play outside linebacker.
As we brought big sister Sabrina (age 3) to see her new brother last night she came out with one of those Readers Digest type comments. "I have to tell Mommy that Donald is out now" she said as we walked through the hospital parking lot. Mrs. Bill
(Gram) told her "I think Mommy will know".
Hope mother and baby are doing fine and that the grandparents can be scraped off the ceiling sometime soon.
When I saw the subject line, I thought, "Hmmm. Waited nine months for this cruise, eh? Lots of things are worth waiting nine months for !!!"
I liked Sabrina's comment.
Now, I'll give you one of my own mom's to share with your daughter. She said this to me just before Child #1 was born. "It's not a fun experience, but it's only one day out of your life and you will have a little something to show for it."
I even amazed myself , click on the attachment in my reply above , there he is, Donald John (never ever ever to be called DJ)Parsons. Thank you all for your kind words and wishes. Those of you who are grandparents or parents know the wonderful way I feel today.
I'm off as I write this to pick up Sabrina ,take her home for dinner, take her to a swimming lesson then change her and bring her to the hospital to visit mom and brother Donald. When I walk out the door to my office, I morph from Executive Vice President into Papa. It's the Papa part that makes me happiest.
Happy cruising everyone.
Bill.. let me add my CONGRATULATIONS!! Tres cool to be a grandparent, and be able to give them back to their parents when they quit smiling and giggling at you. Though I don't speak from personal experience as my sons are a bit young yet.
Bill it's a truly wonderful experience. Grandchildren were made to be spoiled by doting grandparents and you sound like you are ready to do a bang up job of it . Baby picture is great. Best wishes to you and yours!
Congratulations! What a lovely baby. You must be walking on clouds! Jose and I have 14 grandchildren, but they're all in Costa Rica so we don't get to see them very often. You are right, I would imagine that being Papa beats out being EVP by a long shot! That's a great picture, and you have every reason to celebrate.
