Swimming with the dolphins in Cozumel, and swimming with the stingray in Grand Cayman. Hard to choose, but I guess dolphins would be the top because I dreamed of doing that for YEARS and finally made a dream come true.
I've only been on one cruise so far, so I can't give the most unbiased opinion! But I'd have to say seeing Tulum was the best shore excursion. My BA is in anthropology and I'd always wanted to see Mayan ruins. They were so beautiful perched on the cliffs above the ocean.

Number 1 , all day eco safari/snorkelling Hilo (Big Island) Hawaii. Van ride and tour of an orchid plantation. Lava tree state park tour. Snorkel in a lava inlet fed by underground spring of fresh water mixing with salt water.Scramble over semi submerged lava formation to snorkel/swim in a coral garden. Finally swim in a lava heated natural hot pool by the seaside.
Number two Catamaran snorkel Lahaina(Mauaii) to Lanaii . Dolphins, whales, fabulous coral and fish, great pure sail.
Number 3 Jessie James snorkel tour out of Hamilton Bermuda. Three stops, island snorkelling, Two side by side ship wrecks and coral reef . Wonderful snorkelling combined with a great boat ride and tour. Saw my first Baracuda.
Number 4 Snorkel the caves at Norman Island and the Indians rock formation in the BVI's
Thanks Pamda... that was a fascinating article! Hopefully someday I'll get to retrace much of your route.
Now I feel like I've taken a mini-vacation in the middle of a slow Friday afternoon! (Just don't tell my boss!)

Re: POLL- Your FAVORITE shore Excursion?
Oh this is hard! I guess I will have to list my five favorites as I cannot seperate them! Swimming with the Dolphins in Cozumel (Carole and I were paired together!), Stingray City in Grand Cayman, Misty Fjords flight and sail in Kethcikan, Alaska (sailed into the fjords and flew out), Golden Eagle Outisland sail in St. Maarten, and last (but not least) whale watching out of Cabo San Lucas.
Carnival Breeze with Ray B and Aerogirl 5/4/14!
Two of them are right up there at the top. Most recent was the whale watch in Juneau June 2001. Not a ship sponsored tour. We booked it on our own in town. We went much further than most tours. We saw about 30 humpback whales and followed them for over an hour. The other memorable thing I did was swim with the Dolphins. They do have the powers. My arm was cured of pain I suffered with for years after being with the dolphins. Didn't notice til the next morning when I awoke to do my usual ritual of taking pain medication that I noticed I had NO PAIN. Haven't had any since then either.
Guten Morgen, you'll have a lovely weekend. It was 1oo in the shade in my yard yesterday afternoon, probably more ot the same today. We need rain my Magnolia leaves are falling and Dogwood is drying up
Tough decision.....BUT I think it would have to be the high speed catamaran ride to the Great Barrier Reef. Seeing the beauty 'under' while snorkling then topping off the day seeing the beauty 'above' from a 4 seater helicopter.
Course swimming with the Dolphins in Cozumel and snorkling with the sting rays on Grand Caymen Island are high points too !
