Default Poll: Are Beauty Treatments and Massages On THe Ship Worth

Not being beautiful and unlikely to ever get that way, I have often wondered if having your face covered with mud, chocolate or seaweed is really worth the price. I have heard that that half the time during the treatment is spent on trying to sell you expensive witches potions.
I guess I could have my hair styled, although the things that could be done to one hair are kind of limited.

Also, unless they have little feet walking up and down your back, is the massage worth while? I would rather spend my time and money on other activities. I guess that's what makes cruising so great. There is something for everyone.

A massage is great! Tense muscles feel so great after a good massage.

Mud? Seaweed? YUCK!
I don't think any of that extra stuff on your face helps. You either have good skin or you don't. Seaweed wont make me Cindy Crawford. And some of that stuff is just not good for your skin in the first place.

Had a massage years ago and did NOT like it. Never had a facial so can't say.
Come on you must have more than one hair?? why would you keep just one. Just curious Auguste

Auguste, it all depends on who does the massaging.
I give John all his, so I bring massage oils etc and he just melts away. I usually do this right before bed and he sleeps all night long with no trouble.
Sleepness or rough nights are common for him, so this is a treat.

I had a pedicure on the Summit, paid twice as much as I do here at home, and it wasn't nearly as relaxing. Their spa chairs weren't working, so they just used a basin (like a plastic wash tub), no massaging chair, no jets of water, no raised foot rest. It just WASN'T a treat, and it was an expensive non-treat. But I think sometime I will try the massage.

Mrs. Thomas always gets a massage and (I'm sorry to say) get's suckered into buying a bunch of oily, smelly, glittery fluids packaged in bottles labeled in a foreign language I can't read. That's her treat and she loves it. The snake oils end up under the bathroom vanity until they disappear from dry rot.

Regards,
Thomas

I am not a massage enthusiast so I can't compare them to land experiences. I have had two ship massages, one was great and the other was not.

On one ship I had the full one-hour treatment of massage and facial. The massage was too light and the facial was a complete waste of time. Whatever benefits I received from both, a relaxed feeling or a healthy glow, they were all gone within a few hours.

But on the other ship I groused all the way to the salon (because the appointment had been made for me) but by the time the massage was over I felt great. That one was worth it.

Don't buy the snake oil. That is all about profit and I can't believe the claims they make about those products.

I had a massage/facial combination. The massage was just o.k., but the facial was so unrelaxing because of the constant pitch to buy products.

If I did it again I would tell them right up front I was not buying anything extra.

Had a massage on last cruise and it almost crippled me for life. The masseuse rubbed so hard it tooks days for the pain to go away.
