Default POLL- What Makes for a PERFECT cruise in your book?

Having just returned from an incredible cruise, last night I got to thinking... What makes for a PERFECT cruise?

On the Constellation we had a wonderful ship, wonderful itinerary, wonderful crew, wonderful cabin mate (scoring points with Mrs K here<G>) ,wonderful food and superb service.... yet there were a few small things that would keep me from labelling it as PERFECT. Perhaps it was an 8 1/2 or 9, out of 10. PRETTY DARN GOOD!!!

Anyone ever had a 10? or is the search for the 10, while enjoying all the 7 -10s part of the reason we keep heading out to sea?
And to be more specific... What would make it a 10 for U?

I do not believe there is a perfect anything. For me the perfect cruise is if any thing I don't like is minor enough that I can ignore it. The worst cruise I had was not due to anything caused by the cruise line. It was rude passengers that were onboard. I still had a good time. I would have to say all of my other cruises were great to me.

My first cruise was perfect with one minor exception. I was in an inner cabin. On a ship built in 1932. With a discount cruise line. Cruise far exceeded my expectations. It was a perfect cruise.

Oh, the exception, the casino was closed in port so we had an impromtu blackjack game outside of the casino until it opened.

Ahhh!, the Perfect Cruise.......ZZZZZZZZZ

-Having that one or two days precruise to wear off the jet lag or just to wind down a bit.
-Flawless embarkation process with a lovely repeat cruiser check in lounge (like RCI's Port of Miami)
-Discovering my favorite Capt., CD, and HD are all signed on for duty on my cruise.
-The bon voyage bubbly is chilled to perfection on my lovely, huge, aft balcony.
- The very attentive waiter and cabin steward make me believe that I am the only one on board and they are there to cater to every whim.
- The neat embossed Capt.'s invitation to dinner is found slipped under my cabin door.
- Cooperative weather and seas.
- Plenty of empty poolside deck chairs
- Pool bartender remembers my favorite red wine cooler with diet sprite and extra cherries.
-Charming dinner companions who can carry on interesting conversations.
Finally and most importantly, NO DEBARKATION EVER!!!!!!!!!!!TeeHee!

I don't think life is about "10's"... life is about enjoying our experiences, day by day... some more than others. What is a "10" for you may not be for me... in fact I know it is not... so those delivering the services have no idea whether to try to deliver your "10" or my "10". From what I'm reading, it sounds to me as though you had a great cruise experience, which is what it is all about. Life has its imperfections, at sea or on land.

One was Windstar Cruises in the Greek Islands/Turkey. The food and service are the best I've ever had on any ship. I loved the casual attire and the cabin (with CD player and VCR). We had so much time in port I that we were able to rent cars and explore the islands at our leisure. Most of all, it was the camraderie that quickly developed between passengers and crew. One night, they had a lobster and steak barbecue on deck in the port of Bodrum, Turkey. We were right next to a former castle, all lit up with twinkling lights. We danced to "Achy Breaky Heart." It was a magical evening I'll never forget.

I suppose the only 10 I can recall was the first cruise. At that point I had no basis for comparison and the whole cruise was magical. At least that's what I believed at the time. Now, when I look back on it, there were some things that were less than perfect.

But I have to agree with the others in that there is no such thing as a perfect "10." There are flaws in everything, albeit minor things most times. And as good as things are there will be different perceptions by different people. Some will say the cruise was too "stuffy" and others will say it was too "casual."

I'd be interested in hearing about Ray and Helen's finest cruise though. I only wish someday I'll be able to claim 1/2 as many cruises as them.

What is the perfect cruise????

The one I'm on, even if things aren't as you had hoped for, you are 1) enjoying a vacation that you have been blessed to be able to afford.

As has been said before no cruise can be rated a perfect 10. Many cruises are a stand out over others, However, the 52 dayer aboard the Ren R-1 From Laem Chabang to Athens was the most impressive. We visited many interesting ports. We also missed several that we were scheduled to put into due to unrest and security awareness. I understand that but with some disappointment. The ship was great with our balcony, the food was excellent, the crew was outstanding and our fellow passengers were very cordial. We made many new friends. We visited several ports for our first time as that is our goal to see the world with our few years we have left. Stand outs were visiting the Job's tomb in Oman and St Catherine Catherael at the foot of Sanai mountain.

For me a perfect cruise would be discovering that my cabin was the Presidential Suite, and that the cruise itself was absolutely FREE!!!

Cheers,

havenīt been on a cruise yet so i canīt really say! i just hope the "bads" donīt happen and that the "goods" do!

one thing that does indeed make a cruise (outside of europe) edge closer to perfect is the fact that dhīs cell phone wonīt work. iīm going to do all in my power to make sure that dhīs company canīt get in touch with him. theyīve ruined enough vacations for us!

My perfect cruise is a great itinerary and at a VERY good price! I've tried most of the moderate lines, and have enjoyed every one. There are some things better from one ship or line to another, but always plenty of good, to very good food! The entertainment and activities vary a bit, but usually something to do!
My favorite so far is the Baltic. But, we had unseasonably warm weather and great ports! We actually prefer the sunny and warm places. Really looking forward to Tahiti!!!!!! Hooked on cruising! Nita

This is for Shari Benade King the first female cruise director aboard the Britanis. My family and I sailed that great liner 5 different times. I can honestly say that the Britanis and Chandris had the highest quality food at the lowest prices of any cruiseline we have sailed.(and we have done 50 cruises and counting) My kids grew up and took to crusing while sailing the Britanis. The staff was wonderfull and so helpful and lots of staff to help passengers. I took galley tours on this ship and it truly had the cleanest stainless steel kitchen of any vessel including todays modern ships. It was the Britanis that got me hooked on crusing and we still today sail Celebrity because it goes back to the Greek Chandris operation. Hold your head high if you worked on the Britanis because she served the cruise industry longer than any cruiseliner and had real "class" while doing it.

When we sail away from the dock. It doesn't take much for me to love every cruise.
