Key West and beach is an oxymoron. Wouldn't waste day in key west on beach since I am sure you will be going to islands with much better beaches. Most of the beachs are pretty rinky dink and there is usually a stench from the seaweed. One time, I did find a nice private beach next to the Casa Marina. Cost $2 to get on, I'd tip the frenchman another couple of dollarsa day to get a good location for lounger. Drinks and food right on the beach. However, even there the beach was pretty poor.

Marc - thanks - we were just hoping to snorkel a little but still have time to see the celebration on Mallory Square before sunset and maybe do some shopping. Most excursions out take too much time and we would miss the celebration. Does anyone know if the shops close at sunset on DuVall St. or if they stay open??? THanks, Debbie
