AirLine Check-in at Port of Miami to resume

American Airlines, Royal Caribbean and the Port of Miami have come to an agreement to start post cruise airline check-in again at the piers. Domestic flights only. You'll be able to once again check in after claiming your luggage and clearing U.S. Customs. Baggage may be checked too and will be taken by truck to MIA. Security cleared drivers will be used. Other airlines are expected to reach similar agreements shortly and Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale will be next in line.

Reinstatement of this service should go a long way toward relieving congestion at MIA for post cruise passengers.

Ernie,
That is great news, should help a lot at the airports, wonder if they will eventually start that again in SJ?

Donna's question about San Juan is mine, too.

It was so great just to dump the luggage and spend a day in wander mode "at home".

I wonder if this is a question of convenience or security? I'd assume that if nobody's luggage had blown up on the ship, it's not likely that it's going to blow up post-cruise.

I can understand pre-cruise, pre-flight scrutiny. But at the end of a cruise? It seems safe enough to me.

Donna... I would assume it will eventually be started up again in San Juan, where it really makes a lot of sense... but I have no information on that at all as of now. I just know that Miami will be first with RCI, then some other lines and then Port Everglades.

Thanks Ernie,
Lets hope they do eventually go back to that again, especially in San Juan. It was still a hassle before even when they did take your luggage at the pier and you could check in, keep us informed :-)
