Police in Hanover County, Va., are investigating a shooting outside a restaurant in Ashland, about 70 miles south of Washington.

A 37-year-old man was walking with his wife outside a steakhouse around 8 p.m. As he walked across the parking lot, he was shot in the abdomen, according to police. He has been hospitalized and was unconscious when he was brought in.

Witnesses said the shots were fired from a wooded area behind the restaurant.
Police are not sure if the shooting is linked to the series of sniper shootings in the Washington area, but they say they are treating it as if it could be related. Members of the MontgomeryCounty, Md. sniper task force are working with authorities in Ashland, Va. There is a lookout for a white van with a ladder rack on top.

The shooting took place one-tenth of a mile off the Interstate 95 exit. Virginia State Police blocked off portions of Interstate 95 northbound and southbound and portions of Route 54. Police are also conducting searches on roadways throughout the Washington area.

I posted this first thing Monday a.m. That was the first I heard of it. Was not aware of it Sunday night, we turned the tv off early and had "family" time.
