We have so many Pet Topics going now I wasn’t sure where to string this. So I started a memorial of sorts…
This Poem hangs on the wall of my home.
"Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them; who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together......."

I was blessed with the companionship of;
Taffy (Beagle) for 16 years.
Duchess (Pincher) 12 years.
We are being currently blessed with Tasha (Mini-Pin) 8 years now. She has knee and hip problems at times, but is doing very well.

Jason, I have two minpins. One is 5 and the other is 10 years old.
Also have 2 great danes. 2 and 7 years.
Would love to see pics of your minpin!
This is Holley (named after Holley Carburetors). She is 5. She is tearing up her toy. She likes to lay on my desk, while I am on the puter.
Okay, Okay, I have to get into this too. If this works it is a photo of my daughter Kelly and our Bichon Frise, Frosty the Snowman, at one of his first obedience shows. He went on to be a great obedience dog and achieved a Utility Dog title. He is now 11 years old and my sweet companion.
Jason
THANK YOU for the beautiful post - we have 2 adopted greyhounds. We are part of a rescue chapter to adopt retired racing greyhounds. We used this poem when one of our member's (human) passed over the bridge - we it made up for her husband to hang on his wall.
I'm not familiar with you breed of dog - they are beautiful - can you tell me more?
Are they good watch dogs? Greyhounds are Wonderful - not watch dogs though.
Greyhounds are wonderful. We had on several years ago. We adopted him from the racetrack here. His name was Travis. He would "smile" at people and it intimidated him.
Very laid back dog. Wonderful companion, but yes, lousy watchdog. Well, if you just want them to WATCH, they do that very well, but if you want them to do something about it, that is a whole other story. :O)
Love that picture of Frosty, Phyllis. Before we got Watson the dachshund we had a Bichon, Zep, for 15-1/2 years. What a great dude he was. When it was his time to go though he went quickly and for that I'm happy. But it was a terrible time in our lives to lose that good friend.
Hugger,
Tasha the MinPin is very Petite, at barely 6 pounds. She is the most intelligent dog we have ever had. She is a very good watchdog (she prefers to be called Director of Security). She is very demanding of your attention and is relentless when she wants something. Tasha is very seldom away from my wife Carol’s side, but she shows a lot of affection to me also.
Her repertoire includes sit, lay down, stay, speak, sit up pretty, roll over, walk on hind legs, play dead, hurt dog (walks while holding up one paw), and she will hide on command.
If Carol had to choose between Tasha and I, lets just say it would be tough starting my life over alone again…

Hey Jason!
My one cat, Ty, short for "tiny" at one time, weighs 20 pounds!!! We take a picture of our family for x-mas every year and the funny part is that I've added one cat for the past few years. Now with seven cats, one German Shepard, and a hamster, this years card should be interesting!! I'll have to post my one from last year. I LOVE dogs. But with both my husband and I working full time, cats are just so much easier. Our dog was at a "soft moment" and at two years old, it was nice to adopt a dog that was already house trained and attack trained. Shes only 70 pounds, so people don't even think that shes full grown yet. Shes good with the cats too, likes to lick their heads until they are soggy. Some are more patient with her than others! (-:
Sandy, At 20lbs its a lion not a cat.... My daughter has a Rottie 145 lb. My grandson 18 months old calls our dog Tasha "kitty" because she is so much smaller than his dog.

Re: Pets pass on to the "Rainbow Bridge"
Jason, my grandaughter Kiera calls April "Kitty" too as she is so small (8 lbs). We are worrying over April at the present..she has had two seizures in the past 6 weeks (not violent but still scary). Waiting for blood work to come back and should have those results tomorrow. She has lost over a pound since May and her hair is not growing back properly between groomings so it may be something other then epilepsoy (sp).
Jason, thank you that was a beautiful poem! It brought tears to my eyes. We have 4 dogs and I thought we were nuts but in seeing others I realized we are just pet lovers. I have 3 shih tzus, the king Petree is almost 6, pup brothers Boo and Charlie are 6 months and our lhasa apso Butch is 7. I would love to share some wonderful pics but not set up for that. They are truly our boys and very special, again many thanks.

Am I missing something? When I went in and enter all I got was a page with paw prints and music but that's it. I have to say I was thrown off by this topic because there is another rainbow bridge that is a website for children with blood related cancers here at CMC in Charlotte NC. This site is another heart breaker. But anyways, this was lovely too.

Don't know what happened, but I got to all the features of the website. I just clicked on the paw print at the bottom of the main page and found the registration, boutique, location of pet's stone, etc. I did a search for some friend's pets that were deceased to see if they had been placed in the Rainbowsbridge site but they were not. So I e-mailed them to let them know of this site.
I got it Thomas. I was unable to use the link provided so I just typed in the address and got to it. What a great site indeed! Hopefully I won't have any use for it for a very very long.

Thank you so much for the beautiful poem. Last week me and my family sailed on the Explorer and had such a wonderful time. I just received a call from my daughter in law, and while we were cruising her beloved dog ran into the street and is now in doggie heaven. She and my son are devastated, and I just forwarded the poem to her, and hopefully this will help ease her pain.
