Default Private Tour Valparaiso

I just got a quote for a private tour for four people. The price was $70 per person:
Here is the itinerary:

Pick-up four passengers at point of debarkation at 9:00A.M.

Tour of Valparaiso

Tour of the Vina del Mar , Chile's wine growing region, with stops at several chilean vineyards

Tour of Santiago

Transfer to airport at about 9:00 P.M. for an 11:30 P.M. departure on American Airlines.

This seems like a very good deal to me because just transfers to the airport through Celebrity were about that much money. I think this should be a very long and fun day.
Comments or suggestions???

Sounds like a great deal, Chuck. We are disembarking in Valparaiso, but we are staying on a couple of days in Santiago, so have opted for Princess' transfers.

What is your itinerary ? Asking, as I am interested in what you have chosen for shore excursions.

Chuck... sounds like a good plan. We've used private cars in Europe and normally ended up paying around $50/hr for the vehicle and driver, so price seems reasonable.

Regards,
Kuki

Chuck / Heather,

Did that itinerary on the Mercury this past March, it is fabulous. We opted for the Celebrity tour, which was more expensive than that quoted for you.

You may want to get to the airport earlier than that however, flying out of Santiago, EVERY piece of luggage was unpacked/checked before you were allowed to proceed to the check-in counter. Lines were VERY long to say the least. We were on United, which when we got there was one of the smaller lines, but American's line was almost the length of the airport. The guards were however very efficient, but do not lock your luggage as (at least then) you will have to unlock it again.

Thanks for the advice. I have friends who said the airport lines were enormous as well. They have done this cruise before and are doing it again with us. (They must have liked it)
The flight actually departs at 11:59, roughly midnight. What time would you get to the airport?

Chuck, if it was me, I'd be there around 8:00 - 8:30, I leave around 3 hours minimum. Our flight was at 9:00 pm, Celebrity had us there around 5:30.

United is cancelling ALL service in and out of Santiago as of Jan. 6 2003. We were

originally booked United now have been transferred over to American.

Hardest thing about a vacation is getting to and from the vacation !! :-)))
