Default RCI Cancels Northwest cruises?

Well that's what I read in the Vancouver Sun today. Guess it was costing them too much
for those 3 and 4 day trips. They figure the ship could be better used on other sailings. Those were not elaborated on. So much for the quick weekend getaways

Here is the link, just copy it for the story.

Richard,

Well this is certainly bad news for we Northwesterners!

Thanks for posting the newspaper article. Reading it prompted me to investigate further, by checking RCCL's website to see if there were anything mentioned in an official press release. There is nothing listed, so I decided to see if the 3 & 4 night cruises were still being offered to book on the site. The only Pacific Northwest cruise listed is for May, 2003, a 7-night cruise from San Diego to Vancouver, B.C.

And while that sounds like a fun cruise, I really enjoyed being able to just drive up to Seattle for a quick getaway aboard a luxury liner.............

That's too bad. I suspect H.A.L. and Princess will still do some version of NW or coastal cruises. All is not lost.

Dean,
We too really enjoyed not having to fly to the ship. And it was a great weekend! Oh yeah, thought your review of the Radiance pretty much summed it up. You covered it pretty well, and as I had said previously we found the whole ship etc. to be great. Unfortunately we had to cancel our March trip on the Vision as Ev's vacation schedule is not out yet (they pick by seniority). BUT I already know about the San Diego trip so we'll see...

Chuck,
Haven't you left yet !<VBG> Must be soon when you head for warmer seas.Hope you have a great trip ( and a Merry Christmas) and bring back some warm and sunny wx with you! As you mentioned, HAL would be an option for us as well. As for Princess, well let's just say my experience dealing with their head office...let's not go there.

Richard,

Sorry to hear that you had to cancel your March cruise.......

Patti and I are thinking about another Caribbean cruise, perhaps this coming Spring, and then a Pacific Northwest cruise this Fall. Of course, the Fall cruise is up in the air, obviously, but something may work out. Would be fun to cruise with you, and Chuck, and others from our neck of the woods.

I have photos posted here from our cruise that you might want to check out. They're posted under my name, and feature Patti climbing the rock wall and me playing golf!

Take care,

Dean
