Hi everyone, Mark and I are home from a fabulous trip on the Millie! We absolutely loved the ship and the itinerary, and Celebrity gave us terrific service. It was exactly our speed, and so we already joined the Captain's Club!
I'll just cover some of the highlights here.
San Juan - I was ready to move there! It was so beautiful, and I loved the city! We did the rainforest tour and that was especially fun for Mark, since he'd never seen rainforest before. We are planning to tour it on our own next time.
Catalina Island, Dominican Republic - Celebrity's "private island." A fun day at the beach.
St. Thomas - what a gorgeous place. This was probably our favorite stop. The people were so friendly, the island lovely, and we got a great deal on liquor at the K-mart! Mark wants to go spend more time there... we took a historic walking tour, which was interesting, but we would have liked to do so much more.
Nassau - been there, done that, but went to Atlantis just for something to do, and won $300 in the slots!
The food on Millie was just to die for! I had a filet mignon that was the best I'd ever tasted.
And the Olympic - what an experience. We ate there on Wednesday and it lasted all night. I had the caesar salad, goat cheese soufflé, steak diane, and chocolate soufflé. All heavenly! By the end I was having to force myself to eat, I was so stuffed! We made sure to ask for a seat in the paneled section, and that made it so much more special.
The service - our waiter and assistant waiter were the best we'd ever had. The sommelier really knew his stuff and made some excellent recommendations. Our cabin attendant did a really great job too.
And a special thanks to Y2C - what a remarkable person your friend is. She really took care of us. We were invited to dine with the chief concierge (although we couldn't make it due to reservations in the Olympic that night), and also got the highlight of our cruise - a tour of the bridge! She was so friendly and sweet and made sure to tell me to say hello to you.
Disembarkation was a real nightmare, total chaos, but the rest of the cruise was great. It'll take a little while for PCD to set in, since I'm still on a high from this one, and don't have to go back to work until Jan. 6. We were supposed to drive up to the panhandle to visit my parents today, but we are both so exhausted it'll have to wait until tomorrow. I called my mom and she said, "a vacation is supposed to be relaxing!" Too late for that! (Although staying up late last night and getting up super early for disembarkation today didn't help.)
I'm so tired I know I'm leaving stuff out... but I'll get a full review together soon. Now I need to rest and get ready to go to NW Florida tomorrow, so I'll post again another time. When I get the pictures developed I'll scan them in and post them, but don't hold your breath - with another trip and Christmas coming, it won't be anytime soon.
Now posting as MichelleP.
Welcome back, even though we know you'd rather still be on the Millie! I'm so glad to hear you had a good cruise! We certainly enjoyed her sister ship, the Summit when we cruised her last May. Rest up, have a great Christmas with the folks, and check in with us when you can.
