Default Explain your log on name please!

O.K. gang. Let us mental midgets know why your log on name is what it is.

Mine? Well I was born Alewicious Kenaverus Mengisan but that was too confusing so I changed it to THOMAS ! ! !

Thomas

I was named William by my parents. A teacher in fifth grade faced with 4 students named William dubbed me Bill and it stuck.
My oldest granddaughter could not get out Grandpa and Grandma. At 1 year old I was Pa and Grandma was Gram. At about two for some unknown reason I became Papa.
Of course on this board I was Bill for quite some time until the great identity theft of 2002. I am quite happy to be PapaBill as the Papa part is what I really care about.
Since I'm not cruising with Kuki and friends this week , I'm taking Caroline to swimming lessons tomorrow, then spending the afternoon playing with Philip and his new brio trains. Sunday I'll head up to play with Sabrina and Donald (who now sits up, not bad for 5 months old). I'll think about doing some work around the house, but, with luck the urge will pass.
Happy cruising to all, have a nice weekend.
PapaBill

Mike, I really had a good laugh when I read about your mother's "heavy sweater". It took me a couple of minutes to get it. Very cute. Looking forward to meeting someone with such a great sense of humor.

Well, it's rather a long story, but since we have lots of bandwith, and I have 50 minutes until I go home from work.......

Kuki is actually an abbreviated version of the full "screen name" I began with when I first found the "net" a few years back. The full name was Kukimoon (which due to falling out when I left AOL became Kukimoose, but that is another story entirely<G>)

For this story... I'll stick to the origin of Kukimoon.....
My great great grandfather was a supervisor working for the railroad when they were building the TransCanada railroad, one complete line joining the east coast of the country to the west coast. An amazing feat at that time.

His crew was made up of many immigrant workers, many of whom were Chinese. His job was to build the tunnels through the Canadian Rockies. As one can imagine, in those days blowing holes in the mountain sides was a much more complicated procedure than it is today.
One day there was a horrific accident in one of the tunnels under construction, and it was feared great great grandads entire crew was lost. He however refused to give up the search and kept the search party working right through the night and the following day. Miraculously, they found each and every member of his crew alive. Some badly hurt, but alive none the less.

That night his crew held a ceremony to honor great great grand dad for his loyalty and bravery., It was during this ceremony that they bestowed on him the ancient Chinese name or honor... Kukimoon.

Kukimoon translated literally to English means... This story is MUCH BS <VBG>

I got about half way through that post Kuki before I realized I was being fed the whole hook, line and sinker. Nice try Antlerhead, and a clever post for such an "old" critter.

Well it all started with a twinkle in my fathers eye, or he got drunk or something like that.

....enough of that

My first name is Joe - hence the "J"
My last name begins with the letter "I" (last name is a secret, Im wanted in 3 states)
Years ago I really got hung up on this AOL thing. (America On Line) so I stole the last two letters "OL" for On Line. and since I only use this name when Im on line to the Internet, Im am then known as: Joe I On Line.

Tada!

Easy answer for me.

A and P was already taken by those grocery people, so our company became PANDA.

Pamda just naturally followed.

My story is not as "interesting" as Kuki's, but I'll still share.

I was at Mission College trying to sign up for my first email account and not wanting to use my real name I thought of a movie I had just watched and kinda liked "The Fox Fire Girls" or something like that. I was working at a company called Jay-Dee Aircraft at the time and took the "jay" from there and came up with "jayfoxfire".

I liked using "jay" because my name is Jaime and since I live in So. California, I'm always being called "High-ME"....people just don't realize that MY spelling IS phonetically correct! They think J-A-M-I-E is right but that is JAMy….I’m NOT something you spread on toast! And besides, Jaime Summers (the Bionic Woman) spells HER name this way too!

Okay – I got that off my chest – sorry if I was babbling! hehehe

My sign-in name is short for the following:
M (Maybe someday I'll cruise)
A (Alright, I will give cruising a try)
R (Ready to cruise)
Y (YES!, I'm going on a cruise)

L (Love at first sight...that cruise ship)
O (Ohhhhh, I don't want to get off the ship)
U (Undoubtedly...addicted to cruising)

Okay, I'm sorry.....I guess I was unimaginative and used my real name for a log-in.

My screen name comes from the fact that I've been obsessed with the watery parts of the world my whole life. And I've done too much reading, especially classics--Melville, Cooper, Conrad, London, Shakespeare, etc. Hunks is a term that is used quite frequently in mid 19th and early 20th century literature to refer to a miser--ask my wife how cheap I am--or a generally unpleasant fellow--a lack of patience for stupidity is my worst vice. That's how the Seahunks got his name.

I am Carole and hubby is Johnny. :O)

Used to use vetwife on a older board, but once I got to know people, I started using my real name. BTW - Vetwife is because I am the wife of a veteran. (Vietnam)
I still use it sometimes but usually on a board/forum that I am a newbie. I also use siera_hotel.....not spelled correctly because the right one was already taken. I use my yahoo acct (siera_hotel) to register for different sites so all the junk goes there instead of my regular mail, so if any of you get a greeting card from siera_hotel, IT IS ME!

Some good stories out there mates! "rollerdonna" comes from the fact that I have been a roller skating addict since high school (a l-o-n-g time ago). I mean the old white boot skates, not the newer in-line ones. I'm dying to try rollerskating onboard a cruise ship one day, has anyone ever done it? Donna (who is presently reduced to ICE-skates in freezing Montreal!)

Some great stories here, and makes mine rather boring! I don't even like the name Susan, rarely use it, always Sue or Susie but there were so many Sue's, Sooz, Suzzie's etc. I just used Susan. I thought I was being original spelling cruise a little different until I got into cyberland!!!

Hey, Donnna, middle to late 90's roller skating got an upswing around here so I have powder blue Labeda's with matching blue on the wheels!!! No where to use them, they tore the rink down! If they were old clunkers I'd use them outside but they really spin and I'd probably go flying! Never have been good at stopping!!! :-)

I've always believed that if you write something you should be willing to put your name on it. That's not to say I have any problem with someone using a "log-on name" as identification. So my log-on name is my name.

First initial M. and last name Buckellew combine to make mbuckellew. Not very exciting. And in retrospect I probably should not have put my last name on here. Or made my logon Michelle B. since that's what I sign everything. <sigh> Oh well.

The other problem is that this logon name will have to change at the end of the year. Yay!

Cheers,
Michelle B.

LBL is from a show Princess used to have where passengers performed as show business legends. My friends and I participated once and thus we as a group call ourselves "the LBLs". LBL stands for Love Boat Legends. Thought it was appropriate to use for a cruise board.

GSmith seemed so very boring, so I asked my granddaughter (who was quite young at the time) and she said you could be Tweety. So Tweety it is. Sure wish my granddaughter was still that young, now she is just much too grown up. Life with her was much simpler when Tweety was the most important thing in her life. We've now graduated to bigger things. I'm sure if I were to ask her now her answer would be SillyGranny or Leo (as in DiCaprio). Oh well, Tweety has served me well. And I have this really cute GIF to go with it.

Mine's pretty well-known. I was a motorcycle officer and had a very bad crash and they put me back together with lots of steel and wire just like the fictional character in the movies RoboCop, hence the name.
