Default Your favorite destination......

I'm having a very lazy afternoon sitting here reading the boards, looking at your cruise photos and listening to OLD music....and I'm wondering what your favorite destination has been? For me it was Antiqua......simply a beautiful place. I think one of the reasons it is my fav is because it was on our first cruise...first time in the Caribbean, etc. It was like a fairy tale. How about you guys?

I think my favorite place is Xcaret. Love the lagoon. Of course we got there from Calica which is truly a nothing port but the end result is more than worth it. Next in line would be St John and Trunk Bay. However right about now any place in the Carib would be wonderful with this horribly cold weather we've been having.

I'm having a lazy day, too, doing picture puzzles, looking at my albumns, listening to football, checking the boards!

I think Aruba because I had such a fun time on a jeep tour! It was long and they crammed so much in, I couldn't believe it. We saw the bridge, the mine, the caves, the countryside, tore along the beaches plus ferried over to an island for snorkeling and a buffet! It was the best shore excursion I've ever done, pricey and worth every penny!

Of course, I was dust from head to toe on returning, plus bruised from bouncing around in the jeep, but I'd do it again in a minute! Not for those with sore backs, or the faint of heart, scarey at times but I'm an adventurous soul!

I'd have to vote for Lahaina, Maui. Just something special for me and Mrs. Thomas. I love Hawaii in general and love exploring the non-touristy spots.

Thomas

Oh, so many wonderful places, it's almost impossible to choose. . .Hawaii, Alaska, Bermuda, the Carib, Mexico, the Canal, Europe. Each has definite charms.

But I'm going to choose a port we weren't scheduled to stop at: Villefranche, France during the Millie's inaugural year. Livorno had to be skipped due to another ship that had broken down at our pier, so the captain substituted Villefranche, which is the port that serves Nice and Monte Carlo.

We don't take too many ship's tours, but since we got blindsided by this unexpected stop, we quickly decided to take a bus tour through Nice and up to the little walled town of St. Paul de Vence. What a nice and Nice day it was. Nice became one of those places we've vowed to return to spend some time. Vence is a jewel, where we had plenty of time to explore the sights and the shops and the galleries--even bought a small, cheerful oil painting that now hangs in the kitchen.

We always remember this stop because so many passengers were so busy moaning and groaning about missing Florence that they forgot to enjoy where they were. Too bad for them.

Been painting all day, still working on the interior of the house. Will I ever see the end?

Favorite place?? The cruise ship, love those sea days. The ports are extra benefits.

Mine is a tie between two places that have already been mentioned: Lahaina, Maui and Aruba. Both are just beautiful, special places. The people in Aruba were the friendliest of any port I've ever been to. Aruba holds a special sentimentality for me, too, since that is where Jose and I got to spend our first time together, off the ship where we met, getting to know each other a little better. Another place that I love, and can never get enough of, is San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Barbados, Aruba, and St. Thomas are my favorites. I have spent non-cruise time on St. Thomas and had a wonderful time. Both Barbados and Aruba are so beautiful and the local's are so nice and helpful. I would love to spend a week at either place. Southern Caribbean cruises are definately our favorite. Now if only the airfare to San Juan was so expensive.

Gotta be Half Moon Cay, Holland America's private island. Maybe because it was my honeymoon, but it was the most perfect day I ever spent anywhere - sun, sand, warm water, a float to lounge on, a wonderful buffet, shopping - perfect, all of it!

I'll be visiting Aruba for the first time in March. Sounds like I may be changing my mind about my favorite place. Any place is better than here right now. Snow and more snow.

London, hands down. Followed by Edinburgh, Prague, and Paris.

Caribbean? St. Thomas; also Puerto Rico.

Cheers,
Michelle B.
