Why on my last cruise I saw Kuki.....Matter of fact he seems to pop up on many cruises. Guess his brand of humor must be in demand :-)
And rumor has it that he will also be on my next cruise, the Cruisemates Transatlantic aboard the Celebrity Constellation. So if you have never met anyone famous this would be a good time to join us and meet the "INFAMOUS KUKI".
Have to agree, I have seen CA on a cruise before and if he qualifies as famous, well then that makes two, Kuki and CA. And again rumor has it that CA may join us on the Celebrity Constellation Transatlantic. Pretty soon we'll just be a cruise full of famous people. :-)
On our third cruise we went to Bermuda out of NY. There were several children who appeared on deck and around the ship accompanied by very large men who were obviously not their parents. In addition there was a striking looking woman with long blond hair who wore only black clothes. She too appeared everywhere with several very large men accompanying her. She was a famous author , TV commentator and a celebrity in her own right, but it was her father who was the celebrity. Her name ,
Victoria. Her father's name, John. Her father, the world's most well known plumbing supply salesman. The lady was Victoria Gotti, her father, recently deceased,
the Dapper Don himself and head of NY organized crime, John Gotti. Ms. Gotti was out for a bit of a vacation not long after dad'd conviction for the murder of mob boss Paul Costelano. I subsequent months and years , Ms. Gotti's brother, husband and uncle have also been jailed on various offenses. I noted a number of people trying to approach her, (as I said she is a famous author), no one got closer than 20 feet .
Maybe you have to be from NY to appreciate that one.
On the Fascination in 12/01- The comedian Sommore was on as a passenger. She is from the Queens of Comedy Tour. She took pictures with us and some of us were hoping that she would do the Adult Comedy show. Some of the people in the crowd shouted for her to get up, but she didn't. Son told me that a member of the Backstreet or Nysnc was on the Victory- 12/15/02.
I did a solar eclipse cruise on the Canberra in '73 and had a chance to speak with Isaac Asimov, one of the science lecturers on board. He was sitting alone on deck late one evening so I sat down next to him and we discussed solar eclipses, his books and miscellaneous topics for about an hour. I was a great fan of his and it was a unique experience.
"Willkommen, bienvenue, welcome. Fremde, etrange, stranger. Gluecklisch Sie sehen..." I had the pleasure of seeing Joel Grey perform that role in person. Got the tickets free for helping unload the scenery truck. The producer showed up on my college campus frantic because his usual porters were stuck somewhere along the highway. I have one night as a stage hand in my resume. Of course, that was more than 30 years ago.
