State Department warning

Those who expressed concern about overseas travel in the Will you still cruise if U.S. is at war with Iraq? discussion may want to read about the State Department warning issued to US embassies last week.
Quote:

WASHINGTON The State Department on Friday ordered its embassies around the world to issue a "warden's message" to Americans living abroad to "be prepared in case of emergency."

All Americans living out of the country are being urged to have their medicines and documents up-to-date and readily available in the event they need to be evacuated for any reason, including a terrorist attack.
It sounds like they are expecting trouble.

Re: State Department warning

We get these State Department warnings directly every day at our office, by the dozens. I would not take them out of context. There is barely a Country on earth that hasn't got some kind of warning about it. If we followed all of them, over time, we'd never leave home... in pre-9/11 times or now. For sure, there are obvious places to avoid... in the context of Caribbean Cruising, Cartagena, Colombia rises quickly to the top of the list.
