Default Valentine's Day, Do you or Don't you?

Okay so cupid has shot his arrow and Valentine's Day is here again. Do you or don't you celebrate Valentine's Day? I know a lot of folks think this is a "Hallmark Holiday". I'd love to hear your opinions and how much you get into this day. Gary and I went away last weekend for our Valentine's gift to each other (it was just an excuse to get away) and we do the card thing. I did buy him and the kids the Hershery Hearts full of candy. Let's hear it from all you romantics out there. Don't let my brother and sister in-law read this...they own a candy factory!

Yes, celebrate it. However, at home forget the crowds at restaurants.

We celebrate by going out to dinner. Course we do that a lot anyway, but it does feel special. The 13th (yesterday) was our 32nd anniversary so this time of year is always a little extra special.

I loved doing lots when the kids were little and when I worked at the preschool, but now I've let the celebrating slip a little.

SOOOOOO to all my special Cruisemates family, I wish you all a very Happy Valentines day. Wish I could send you all some chocolate kisses.

Phyll

Valentine's Day is my mommy's birthday, so at our house the birthday celebration always took center stage, but we also always got a Valentine from our parents. Since I married and left home, there has always been a little "love" celebration, but not big going out to dinner or florist's deliveries or anything. I feel especially blessed to be able to continue to celebrate my mommy's birthday on Valentine's day, because today she is 80 years old. After the stroke she suffered a little over 3 years ago, we consider each new year she is with us to be an extra special gift from God.

My dear hubbie found some deal online for 3 days of flowers for your sweetie. So I got tulips on wednesday, stargazer lilies yesterday and probably roses today. I love flowers so this is great. We are not planning on braving the crowds at the restaurants tonight, just a private dinner at home.

I sent flowers to my mom and to my aunt (who lives alone) to brighten their days. Powers, the website I use co-brands with my favorite airline (midwest express) and you can get frequent flyer points when you buy flowers through that company. So we were working on a free flight too.

This is the first Valentine's Day we'll be celebrating alone. This day and Mother's Day are the busiest in the restaurant business and we are usually working until 3 a.m.

we don't make a big deal over Valentine's Day - cards and i get some candy for my son. Next year however may just be a different story since Valentine's Day will be sailing on the Golden Princess

Though I'm sure many will find it hard to believe <G>, I am a romantic.

However, I've never been one to operate by a calendar that tells me when to do what. Personally I choose to bring home gifts or flowers for the lovely Mrs Kuki when the mood strikes, and it's a nice surprise, or if it seems Mrs. Kuki maybe needs a little lift.

So... at the Kuki Kastle today is just another day.

Regards,
Kuki

Valentines is a big occasion at the daycare where I work, and my favourite part is making all the bright coloured decorations with the kids. But I missed all the celebrations this week, being stuck at home after foot surgery. Hubby made up for it though with my favourite chocolates and a great cruise-ship card!

We do not celebrate Valentines day at all. Just another day on the calendar to us.

It usually passes with only a little something. I would prefer to surprised on the ordinary days.

yes we do celebrate but not overboard. I left Dave a box of thin mints and a box of conversation hearts on the front seat of his car this am and he gave me a balloon, box of candy and a beautiful card that oddly enough was in Spanish.....no we're not.....I took it to work and had a coworker translate. After that I left Dave a message that I fully expect him to bring all the roses in the world and lay them at my feet when he gets home from work!
(after all......that's what the card promised!)

On a sentimental note today would've been my parents 50th wedding anniversary but sadly mom died 15 years ago and with dad having Alzheimers he doesn't remember. My sister and I will take him to brunch on Sunday.

We went to lunch together. We also got each other small gifts, he got me flowers. A nice day but not a huge deal.

Happy Valentine's Day to all cruisers!

Cheers,

Since our daily life is making fine chocolates for our store on Valentines Day I usually give Sweet Carol perfume and she usually takes me our to a movie at my favorite theatre.

No, we do not get into this commercialized stuff. We do not need 1 day per year to know that we love eachother, it showes in so many other unexpected things we do as a surprise.

My DH and I do not purchase gifts for any holiday, Anniversary, Christmas or Birthday, Instead we pool the $$$ and book our cruise every March.
