Hi, thought I would touch base with you, and share a tragic event in our life. Last Thursday our sweet little candy store burnt to the ground. We had been there for l3 years and at about l0:00 p.m. a fire started in a business in the building next to us. Our business is located in and area of town that is historic, called Old Strathcona, and our building was l00 years old. The fire travelled so fast ,it took out a total of 8 businesses and 2 others received water and smoke damage .. We were on the main floor and when the night was done we were a black pile of crushed and burnt rubble. We saved absolutely nothing. We are at lose ends, both of us worked there, we have so much to do to start over our saving grace was good fire insurance. You can link to our business web site for pictures. www.carolsqualitysweets.com

You have my sincere condolences. What a terrible thing to have happen to one's dreams and way of life. You can only give thanks that you weren't hurt and that the insurance will take care of you. My you be strong to face the challenges ahead of you.
Very sorry here to hear about the loss of your store, how awful. Just hope you can get the insurance claim going and re-build a big part of your life....just hang in there, you still have yourselves and no one was hurt...
My condolences, candymaker etco. The loss of what you build yourself is the worst kind of pain. I checked out your website and it looked like a beautiful place to visit. I'm sorry I'll never see it.

Three years ago a business behind ours (about 25 ft.) caught fire and burned to the ground. Thankfully me and my manager had stayed late and were watching a football game in the bar of the restaurant when we discovered the fire. We were able to take water hoses and get on the roof to wet down the roof, walls, and propane tanks in the back until the fire department got there.
Even though we had some minimal damage do you know I had to get an attorney to get the insurance company to pay us for our loss! We could have just walked away from the fire and let our building burn to the ground also but we mitigated their liability by keeping water going.
Thomas that is the craziest thing I have ever heard off .Insurance Comp.!!!!!!!
Candymaker so sorry about your loss. Since both of you where working there it is hard untill you can get the new place build. But just hang in there at least you are both ok. Auguste
My thoughts are with you candymaker. As you can see, your crusing family is here and wish you find and end to this accident and a new beginning quickly. A lot is ahead of you. Take it a little bit at a time and it will all come together. Keep us posted. Sue Sue
Candymaker, so sorry to hear of your family's tragedy. So glad no-one was hurt. I keep hearing the chorus in my head from Sammy Davis Jr.'s "The Candy Man", something to the effect of "who can make sunshine out of rain - the Candy Man can!"
Hope you can rebuild, and like the phoenix, rise from the ashes.
