Post your message at the cruise-addicts website also for more help. I live close to San Francisco. The airport is quite a distance from the pier. I would say 30-40 in heavy traffic. Someone who knows the ropes should be able to steer you in the right direction.

You can take the BART train from the airport right to downtown, not too far from the Cruise ship terminal and maybe grab a quick cab ride to the ship.

You can also take the SuperShuttle from the airport to the pier. Check out www.supershuttle.com If I remember correctly, SFO is south of Candlestick Park (and I was chastised when I called it the current name - evidently the natives don't like the new name) and it was a good 20 minute ride on the freeway to downtown San Francisco and then you had to go through city streets which added another 15 minutes (all of this depending on how traffic is on that particular day.)

Sorry dont know much about the port but the airport is a good 20 minute plus drive to where the ships go out of----traffic and all that---- the supershuttle might be the best value---dont think I would want to take a taxi and get stuck in traffic and paying to sit in it too----I can at least say that San Francisco is doing a good job at fixing up the piers and welcoming the ships-- I have sailed into SF and also out of-------
Enjoy whatever you choose
