What's the most delicious thing you ever ate on a cruise?
I saw this old thread from a couple of years ago on rec.travel.cruises. I thought I'd see if I could get some of you interested.
I've only been on one cruise, 2 years ago on the HAL Ryndam. The food by Wolfgang Rappl (is he still the head chef?) and his gang was incredible. The Beef Wellington was excellent, but for some reason the item I most recall loving was Lemon Xongo - I remember it was delicious but I can't exactly recall what it was like!
I'll be sampling cuisine on the NCL Dawn next week!

It was a desert I had in the Club Atlantica called "Tortino di cioccolati fondente".
Their description of it was "Dark chocolate cake". I'm here to attest to the fact that
in my opinion this desert was a food for the Gods. It was more akin to a rich
chocolate flan with hints of hazelnut, dusted with cocoa and small shavings of
more chocolate. Every bite was savored to its fullest. The guy at another table
had it and recommend it to me. Since that night {our second} every time we saw
him and his wife I exchanged a nod and we both commented about the cake.
My quote that I wrote on a copy of the menu that I got from Club Atlantica goes
like this "No mortal should be allowed to eat this"

No one main meal really stands out even though so many are just wonderful and some very exotic! (Ostrach Medallions, great but surprisingly RED meat!) What I live for are the desserts and starters with the main one being escargot. The soups are my passion!

I'm with Jim, no one meal or item really stands out. Love the escargot, though, and the chocolate souffle at the Olympic restaurant on Millie was to die for!

Four things come to mind:
Escargot at Le Bistro on Norwegian Dream
Grilled Lobster at Sabatini's on Star Princess (I usually hate lobster on cruise ships!)
Veal Chop at Sabatinis on Star Princess (The most tender I have ever had.)
Black Bean Soup with deboned Main Lobster claws floating on top at Tequila's on Star Princess
To me, cruise ship food is usually barely tolerable, the Star Princess is a huge exception to that rule.

The best thing I ever ate on a cruise was the Goat Cheese Souffle with Tomato Coulis I had recently in the SS United States specialty restaurant on the Celebrity Infinity. I also tried their rack of lamb which was delicious. I hadn't had lamb since I was a kid,and I remembered it tasting awful. This was sure a different experience. We enjoyed this restaurant so much that we went twice. What a treat!!!!

I've only been on 1 short cruise, 4 nights. I like to try something different each night, vegetarian one night, red meat the next, etc...on Christmas Eve there was filet mignon as the popular entree, but I wanted the chicken & pasta dish, I don't even know what it was called. The waiter thought I was silly to order that, said it was not the best thing, but I insisted. Well, it was so freaking good! My mouth is watering just thinking about it
