Anyone seen this story about Royal Caribbean's Legend of the Sea?

Dana:

I was looking for updates on CruiseMates home page or news page. Have seen no update since the CNN story from earlier. Anyone know if they found the prankster? Has the ship been released?

That's interesting, Dana, thanks for posting it.

What a stupid person to have done such a thing. Probably teenagers trying to play a prank. I feel bad for everyone who had their vacation interrupted.

Cheers,

Anyone notice that Michelle "knows" that she will be leaving at noon for her "as-yet-unbooked" honeymoon cruise? Why not 1100, or 1300, or even 0700?

I agree with you Michelle about the "stupid person" to do such a thing. Marc, she obviously knows they are going to have lunch, probably in a romantic setting, before sailing! Denise

Well, one cannot estimate one's departure time in a countdown clock. Noon is the average time I get to the ship, so that's what I put.

Cheers,
Michelle B.

Thanks for posting this Dana.
Wow- I think that would put a scare into me. I agree with Michelle. It was probably teens pulling a prank. What a stupid, stupid thing for anyone one to do! Boy, I really feel for everyone on that ship.

I was on an Easter sailing last year- ship full of *teens gone wild* - I could tell stories that would shock and disgust - a bunch of them pulled the fire alarms- an "operation bright star* was announced and we figured from the comotion we saw - it was kids caught messing with the fire alarms. Stupid!! stupid....

I wonder if we'll hear the resolution- has the ship been released yet? It sounds like there are many, many unhappy cruisers on that ship right now. I hope it all works out for everyone in the end. I hope they can figure out who was stupid enough to leave a note like that. (shaking head in amazement)

If this was a teenage prank, this clairfies why, either you don't take your kids that are prone to this kind of behavior or you keep the parents of any kids keep a close eye on the whereabouts of their children on all cruises. We had our first experience of kids on a ship and it was not pleasant. Don't get me wrong, we have a 24 year old daughter. But she was always under our thumb. I apologize if I have offended anyone, but children, no matter what age, should be taught respect for others. We pay a lot on these cruises to enjoy our time to the fullest. Need I say more.

How dare all of you presume that this was teenagers?

Who do you people think you are? None of you know for sure that this was the case and now you are putting down all teenagers and young people.

What about all the old people that cruise and think they have a sense of humour or cannot handle the' frozen thingee' drinks.Believe me I have seen more of these than disruptive teens on a cruise.

You are the kind of people that make us not want to cruise again because you think you own the ships.

Please wait and see who is to blame before issuing judgements on one group of people.

cv girl,

I'm sorry if anything I've said has offended you. Apparantly it has. All I can say is this:
The best prediction of future behavior is past behavior. I've been on a cruise ship full of drunken, rowdy teens pulling pranks.
I am not putting down "all teenagers". I am not putting down anyone- I'm just not naive enough to think kids always use the best judgement, especially in groups.
No, I don't know for sure that teens were responsible for this, nor do I know it was even a prank. I think we were all just speculating and trying to fill in the blanks. If I've offended you, I apologize.
I stand firm to my statement though that most kids need more supervision aboard cruise ships. I make that statement based on my personal experience.
I am the mother of three. Two teens and a 21 year old. They are well mannered, bright and respectful. Am I so blind to think they are above getting in trouble? No. I can remember very well being young!
Do I cruise with my kids? No. For reasons of my own. I've claimed cruising as a special adult activity which my husband and I have worked long and hard to deserve.
Do I think I own the ship? Absolutely not. I'm friendly, warm, extremely polite, courteous and always respectful of other's choices.
I believe everyone needs to be held accountable for their own behavior. The "old people" you mention who can't handle their "frozen thingies" can be held accountable for their actions. Who is responsible for kids and teens, especially if they haven't been taught to take responsibility and suffer the consequences of their behavior? Their parents.
I'm sorry you wouldn't want to cruise with us- we're a lot of fun, and we know how to behave. <G>

Actually, it was four 70 year old ladies celebrating their big tag-team win at Bingo.

Regardless of who did it, they clearly had the mentality and direction of low-IQ young teenagers who did not understand the consequences.

I might add that anyone who thinks their teenagers are perfect is probably not on the same planet as their kids and the kids know it.

NEWS CLIP...Passengers were abruptly ordered out of their state rooms late Wednesday afternoon, many of them wearing pajamas, and gathered in the ship's dining rooms, Notice said. They were "not too happy" about their treatment, she said. Passengers could only leave the dining rooms if accompanied by an escort, she said.
"It's not being handled very well," Notice said. She said passengers were grumbling about not being allowed to go ashore while the search and investigation continued.

Its a CRIME SCENE, folks. Not to be confused with a happy time cruise ship. When boneheads pull stuff like this, I want to #@&** them and & ^#@)?=!! (forgive me) them as well. When the C.G. came aboard, all bets were off! Thank God it was a hoax. As to not handling it very well...how do you "handle" 2000 plus passengers with a boarding party of perhaps 25-30 (probably less) law enforcement personnel, dogs, and a lot of detection equip, etc..?? I can understand being upset, but ..not being let off the ship??Geez..You and the perps off for a day in the sun??Get Real. Everything and every one had to be checked..I think I would have been a little scared there..I hope I never find myself in this predicament, however, if I do, I hope I could "handle it" a little better than "grumbling and being po'ed at ...WHO? (IMHO)
Thanks for the steam release..

a footnote to the story http://www.thehawaiichannel.com/news...67/detail.html

It's amazing what 'love' will lead some people to do and how immature one can be even at 20 years of age.
