We've been busy packing for our Connie cruise last night and today, so of course the question popped into my mind..... Do U prefer the soft sided or hard sided luggage?
Our current set is Atlantic's Luggage Vaults ... hard sided (and claim to have bullet proof locks.. which you now can't lock anyway). They seem to be standing up to the rigors of our cruise schedule pretty well the last couple of years, though we've had to replace the odd wheel etc.

Ours are soft with wheels and my sons big duffle will fold for storage. I think hard would last longer but until these are worn out, we will still pack em. Denise

Soft- huge- on wheels. I did find the greatest garment bag last year though - it's rigid, holds tons of hanging clothes- when folded and zipped is a great size- it's on wheels and easy to haul around.
now if someone can cure me from chronically over packing........
Like the soft and light ones. Hard sided luggage is heavy before I start putting clothes in them. I never spend a lot for luggage anymore cause the airlines will destroy them no matter how much they cost. So cheap and replace them often.
Recently switched to soft, the hard did hold up well, but the handles were taking some abuse and one totally fell off, no way to replace it and no way was I going to carry it and now with the weight restrictions, this new TravelPro is wonderful! It will be a test of time, mine has had 1 cruise, husbands, 2 :-)
Soft-sided pullman bags are my favorite. I prefer the lighter luggage. I remember one of my grandma's hardsided monsters that had to weigh 20lbs on its own. Would not be a good thing with the strict weight limits these days.
DeJa Do you remember where you found that garment bag. We need on desperately before our June sailing, the suits, dresses, you know. I have been shopping around with no luck. Thanks, Denise

I prefer the soft sided and even that with the frame, wheels is not that light, over 15 lbs.
Denise, I got a very nice folding garment bag with the two wheels and handle at Penney's. I absolutely love it! Holds alot and is easy to roll, brand name is Jaguar, I believe.
I got the bag at Macy's last year. It's survived 2 cruises and a couple of land based trips and it still looks brand new.
Here is the info on it...

I'm betting you can find it on the web somewhere, probably for less than what the department stores sell it for? I can't quite remember what I paid for it, but it's a great bag!
Clothing doesn't wrinkle in it. It has lots of pockets. A pocket that my husband puts his tuxedo accessories in. It also has little diagonal net zippered pockets in the corners for little extras and zippered pockets on the exterior.
Best part about it, is it's light! When it's time to start replacing my other luggage, I would buy more Travelpro, I love it.
Since I bought the first one, I have been noticing that its true, many of the flight crew do use them and both of ours don't look like they've been used and I love the way they roll. There is a strap that you can add other smaller pieces of luggage to it and it works great, I highly recommend looking into some of these bags.
Hoping to pick up the carry-on one of these days :-)
Soft are hard really threw me for a loop!! Whoah Kuki!! We have soft luggage with hard frame, works well. Got from Kohls or Target, can't remember. But they do hold up well. Price was right too.

ebags! That's it... I've used them before - great place for all types of bags. I get my daughter's backpacks for school through ebags- so much easier than dragging her from store to store hearing, "Nope, that's not the one". lol!! I've never had a problem and they ship really fast.
I am afraid if I start looking at all the Travelpro luggage I'll start buying it- lol!
That garment bag is my favorite piece- I'd love to have the full set - including the carry-on.
For years, my carry-on has been a black LLBean backpack - I cram it full of who knows what- lol! I also bring it on shore for certain ports - this last cruise our friends were calling my husband "The Mule" because he ends up carrying it for me. I shove my purchases in it , etc... plus - I drag around a big LLBean beach tote with rolled up towels and sun stuff plus my camera gear. Oh... my poor Mule- lol!
Deja
(reciting in my head - don't click ebags, don't click ebags - don't.... oops! too late!)
The way airlines and ships throw luggage around, I usually mentally add $100.00 to the cruise price and buy a few cheap pieces every other cruise or so. If it's ruined, so what? Find the Holland America and Princess expandable on wheels nylon bags on board ship are quite sturdy and last 4-5 cruises.
Some day would love to cruise like the old days....3 steamer trunks and dressed in smart trousers like Katharine Hepburn or Deborah Kerr in "An Affair to Remember". Til that time, Walmart works!
Many many years ago I bought hard shell with wheels at a yard sale for maybe 2 bucks <all in all we bought 3 from them>They are Samsonites and the people that sold them used to travel a lot. They are still in excellent condition and made lots of trips. The best investment we ever made at a yard sale

soft luggage for me, you can just cram so much more stuff into a soft bag than you can into a hard sided. Ours is that tough nylon cordura stuff, don't recall the name. I love my garment bag for my gown, dressy dresses and hubbys suit & shirts
THE most incredible bag EVER is the Sharper Image garment bag....at least a miillion places to stash things.... like shoes...!!!! sections galore, on wheels too....It ,makes a hubby real happy.
