Default POLL: How much time do you spend together on a cruise?

When you are cruising with your spouse/traveling companion/significant other, what percentage of your waking time do you spend with him/her?

Mark and I spend most of our time together on a cruise, I'd say about 90%. I do break away for an hour or so on sea days to lay out on deck since he is too fair-skinned to do that, but otherwise we love doing as much as we can together.

Cheers,
Michelle B.

Michelle, Richard and I are pretty much the same way. He will go off on sea days and play golf or basketball and i will find a nice chaise with my book things like that, otherwise we pretty much spend our cruise time together.

Michelle ..
After 23 years together we are pretty much joined at the hip. We enjoy each others company, like pretty much the same things and stick together. We will separate in the casino, she to the slots, me to blackjack.

Gram and I spend virtually 100% together. That was the whole purpose of cruising and vacations for us in the first place. Between work , family, chores and errands etc
most of our "civilian" hours are spent apart . Those that are not, are spent in the company of large groups (family and friends). In addition for more years than I can think of we spent time doing the suburban parents with kids stuff .
It was and is cruising (or other vacations) that allow us the peace , quiet and tranquility of time spent together. We did not vacation apart from our children until after the third one was in college. We enjoy each others interests so we rarely spend time apart when on vacation. Of course we can be sitting two feet apart and if we are each into a good book we might as well be on different planets.
Nothing wrong with that either.

My wife and I spend tours and more time walking the deck together. We still have different interest and spend time apart. She likes Bingo and I don't, she likes the casino's and I don't. I enjoy meeting new people whether on deck or in the lounges so I spend a lot of time meeting and talking with people when she is off at Bingo or in the casino.

My wife is handicapped but as I said we do still go for slow walks around the decks a few times a day but usually make a point of it after dinner or the shows. A nice way to wind down at night.

Art and I are joined about 90 percent of the time. He likes to head to the gym for an hour or so, which gives me time to exercise my Gin and Tonic arm. :-) On sea days, we are often in the room together or by the pool, but he watches his movies or listens to his CDs and I read, so we are close together but doing our own thing.

The big luxury for both of us is enjoying each other or our own interests without being interrupted by a pager, phone, fax, etc

We are together.....that's why we go away to find time with each other. Kids are of to camp and this gives us time together...but we also like to spend time with the kids on cruises. We never have time together except on the weekends.

Most of it. However, if there's something one of us wants to do and the other doesn't, we just go our separate ways.

We spend about 90% of our time together, too. I don't spend a LOT of time out in the sun (I have seen firsthand what damage long-term exposure to the sun can do, so I am cautious..), but that is the one thing that my husband will not do with me. Pretty much all of the rest of our time is spent together. And time together on a cruise is unlike any other "together" time we ever have. Maybe it is because we met on a cruise, while he was working on the ship, I don't know. It kind of takes my mind back to that time and those 2 years that we spent in a long distance relationship (most of the time that we actually spent together was on his ship).....Anyway, we do spend most of our hours on a cruise enjoying each other, being romantic, listening to music, dancing, etc.

We are smack dab in the middle of that whole suburban parents thing, so we, too, spend a good bit of time apart because of our kid's activities (music lessons, sports, etc.), church, work, etc. We LOVE cruising, and only wish we could do it more often.

Unless on a excursion, after breakfast we’re on our own. She usually goes by the pool and I find a ships activity. We meet for lunch and spend the rest of the day together.

I'd say we spend about 80-90% of our time together.

Jake likes to sit in the sun and listen to his CD's, and then I leave to explore the ship and see what I can find to watch or do. I prefer the shade and being out where the people are. Other than that we enjoy being together especially when it's on a cruise.

About 80%. I like to play bridge while Arlene likes an afternoon nap or reading on the balcony. After 1700 though, we are joined at the hip.

Mrs. Thomas likes me to be around all the time. Just not around her. So I play blackjack while she does whatever it is she does. I really don't know. <wink>

Pretty much together all of the time. The novelty for us is SLEEPING together for 7 consecutives nights. In "civilian" life, I work days, he works nights, so we only get 2 nights a week together. Otherwise, the only time apart on board is when I insist on staying poolside in the sun, and he will explore the ship, and both of us are happy with that.

Pretty much all of our time is spent together, and what a treat that is for us! Our work schedules keep us apart most of the week in "real" life, so being on vacation and having the time to be together is wonderful, and we take full advantage of it!

Same as most everyone else.
All the time except for the odd hour or so when she's tanning, or I am on my own looking for something nice to buy her.

Chris and I enjoy each other's company. But I tend more to the introvert side than she does. And because our group was so large, I could take my leave of her and the others
when I needed a moment to just be alone. She never lacked company, and there was plenty of time for us to just be together. The next cruise will be the same, only this time she'll have classes to attend. I'll just roam the decks and enjoy myself.

Sea days we don't spend much time together at all. We wants to spend the entire day in the hot tub, I want to do activities and experience things - plus I'm not a big fan of chlorine. But we meet up in time for dinner and spend the entire evening together. Port days we usually spend together as we have the same intersts in sightseeing and shopping activities.

we eat together and sleep together. Sometimes we see shows. Mostly though we are on our own. I am active, wake up early and go jogging, do all the crazy scavenger hunts and such. He gambles, reads by the pool (okay, more likely uses a book as cover for looking at pretty girls) and goes to the night clubs. Cruises are a fun way for us both to do what we like on vacation but still be together.

I am not married, so I have a different perspective to base my answer...I have a friend who lives in another city and once a year for the last 6 years we do our Jazz Cruise together and she is the best cruising buddy that I have ever had

In many ways we are opposite, I am an early riser, she likes to sleep in, on port days she loves to shop, I love staying on an empty ship and enjoying the spa etc,...depending on the music schedule and artists we want to see, we often will have different paths

We coordinate our schedule for the next day, the night before when we turn in after the late jam sessions and it works for us

I would say 60% of the hours we are awake

We are probably together 90% of the time. We split up and do our own things for special interests, like watching sports in the sports bar or treatments at the spa, ect ect.

We pretty much enjoy doing the same things, so are usually together most of the day...We do some stuff for the other one and the same in return, seems to work out fine.

I have to say all of the time. That's why we cruise. Everyday life causes us to be apart most days. We cruise so that we can be alone. We have great times together.

"Sandra and I are together 100% of the time while cruising." quoted Mehawk.

Yup, that is us, also. DH works A LOT of overtime, so we are together pretty much 24/7 on vacation. He may run out to get a drink or a puzzle from the library or I may run down to the guest service desk for something; but otherwise, we are together.

I'm chiefly amused by the fact that the time gap between posts 18 and 19 in this string is 11 years.

FWIW, we probably spend about 60-70% of our time together.

We spend most of our time together. The only exception is that I go to the casino a few times and my DW does not.
