My daughter and her husband are going to a wedding nearby to my office tonight.
For any New Yorker's you might be impressed, it is at the Castle at Tarrytown. Very
posh. They are driving up to my office and dropping off my grandchildren (Caroline 6 and Philip 3 ). They are coming home with me and sleeping over. We're having a pizza party , then a movie (we have the complete Disney library on tape and DVD).
They get to sleep in Aunt Andrea's bedroom. After breakfast tomorrow they go to visit their other grandparents and we run up to visit the other two grandchildren (Sabrina 4 and Donald, who will be one next week , can you believe it?). My house looks like crap, I'm about 20 projects behind, who cares? About the only thing better would be if they all slept over tonight. It would be such wonderful chaos.
Sounds like fun. When we were kids my grandma would encourage us to catch lightning bugs in jars when we slept over at her house. When we were all tucked in in the living room she'd open the jars and let them go so we could watch the night lights.

Angela,
We used to catch lightening bugs too for a little while to watch the jars light up when it was darker but then we let them go. We didn't get to let them fly around the house. We poked holes in the lids though to keep them alive while they were "jarred" up!
When my grandkids were little, i would lay on the bed and they would apply every kind of makeup they wanted to on me...then move on to my hair.....when i got up i had stiff moussed hair, and a rainbow face.....boy do I miss that.....Enjoy Granddad.....

Friday went SO well. They stopped at my office and I "toured" the place with them. They were friendly and outgoing to everyone. We got stuck in traffic on the way home and I didn't even get one "are we there yet". They ran inside to Gram and smothered her with hugs and kisses. Pizza, Movie(Fox and the Hound) and off to bed with no problems.
Up at 5:15 so we brought them into our room to let Mom and Dad sleep. They had breakfast and Aunt Andrea and Uncle Sal stooped by for a quick visit. Then everyone was off to do what they had to do.
So being gluttons for punishment, we cleaned up real fast and headed out to visit with Sabrina and Donald. We spent the afternoon and evening with them and then stopped by our favorate diner on the way home for a quiet dinner.
We didn't even get out of bed on Sunday until 11 am. It was like a vacation.
Friday and Saturday were great. With everyone's busy schedules we rarely see everybody in a weekend, so it was great to see all my girls and all my grandchildren, although briefly.
Sabrina actually has a firefly (lightening bug) cage. It's a little mesh cube with a latched top. When she goes to bed we let the fireflies go again anyway but, it is fun to run around the yard with her at dusk and hear her giggle each time she catches one.
She also sleeps really well after all that excercise.
Hope everyone else had a wonderful weekend as well.
