Default Hurricanes

I'm going on a cruise the last week of this month. Anyone know if I should be real worried about hurricanes?

Nah, the captain will take the ship to other destinations to avoid the hurricanes. Only rarely does a ship get caught with no where to go. The cruiselines are very experienced with dealing with foul weather.

Thomas

No use in worrying about a hurricane. Not like worrying is going to change what may or may not happen.
The captain and cruiseline will sail around the hurricane if need be. Our friends sailed during a hurricane last year and they ended up doing an eastern caribbean cruise instead of their scheduled western to avoid the hurricane. Beautiful sunny weather the whole week for them.

Marc - though I've never heard of putting Blue Curacao in a hurricane. Please post the recipe in the cruise cuisine forum (even if it's just a "some of this, some of that" version) - sounds interesting.

Cheers,
Michelle B.

The famous Pat O'Briens Hurricane served at Pete Fountain's Place in New Orleans will really blow you away!

Nah, you should be fine. They can change the itinerary or go out to sea around the hurricane if need be.

Remember the safest place for a ship during a hurricane is out to sea as being docked will smash it against the piers. My husband was in the Navy for 6 yrs and he'd have to "sort'e" as they called it whenever one came close to us here in Jacksonville, FL. This was to protect the ships from the waves crashing them against the piers.

But then again you might want to bring ALOT of seasickness meds just in case

I was on the Sensation in Feb, 99 when the itinerary took us to New Orleans. I can remember sailing in the gulf during a storm and NOBODY was on deck or eating...everyone was so sick and they had all the stabalizers out. I just wished to be back home on land! Luckily it was our last day at sea and we were heading back to Tampa.

I love Pat O'Briens in Orlando at Citywalk! Although last time I was there I had a few too many, and they all came back up in the bathroom at Margaritaville... whoops, there I go oversharing. Point is, enjoy in moderation!

Cheers,
Michelle B.

Ha ha Marc... pretty slow here too... I am at MFC Orlando.

When you're stuck in a cubicle by yourself it's easy (and tempting!) to hop on and off Cruisemates throughout the day. As long as I get my work done on time nobody seems to care much (although I don't advertise the fact either).

Marc works at Mitre.

Cheers,
Michelle B.
