I'd imagine it is in fact related to Pamda's answer, but not at all sure. Just a short distance from Venice is Lido Island. It's a "resort island".. hotels, beaches, casino etc.. Thus, I'd guess the connection... Lido/ Resort Island/Deck.
We stayed there prior to a cruise a couple of years back, and in fact find it a bit of a pain to get back and forth from Venice. We had to "resort" to water taxis <G>
One of the settings in the 1935 movie Top Hat is a Hollywood version of the Italian Lido with Venetian gondoliers and other window dressing. Great movie, if only for to watch Fred and Ginger performing at their peak.
I think the Lido is something like our Boardwalk in Atlantic City. on the Med. and lotas of fancy Hotels It is close to Venice(I think I am right ) Yes that is probably where Kuki was
I love Pappa Bills version. Auguste
According to Miriam-Webster, Lido is the name of the small island that separates the Gulf of Venice from the Lagoon of Venice. It was and may still be the site of an upscale resort resort. Trcruiser and Pamda nailed it.
