Default What should I do with my tax rebate?

Hello everyone
I have just discovered this website and forum, and I wish i found it a long time ago - its full of such great advice and friendly people! So thank you to Cruise Mates.

Anyway, on to my question. I have just recieved a tax rebate of about 650 (approx $1050) - what do you think I should do with it?

1 book a cheap bargain cruise immediately for next week
2 wait until my next cruise and go for an upgraded cabin
3 go on a more luxurious line
4 go on all the shore excursions
5 blow it all at the casino
6 buy a whole new 'cruising' wardrobe of fancy formal-wear
7 give a huge tip to that cute waiter in the restaurant

I think I will be doing number 3, putting the money towards a luxury cruise.

What would you do? Do you have any more suggestions for my list?

Hi Barbs,

Except for #7 (tipping the cute waiter), I think that all your ideas sound super! We're expecting a cozy tax refund in Feb. or Mar., and we're sinking the whole thing (and a bit more) into our Baltic cruise (London R/T) next summer. We like to think of our income taxes as "entertainment taxes" (when Uncle Sam gives some back to us). Go for it!

I'd watch pricing and take a luxury cruise at a discounted price. Why not try Oceania or the QM2.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Jack - I especially liked your idea of income taxes being your 'entertainment tax'! I just wish I got more tax rebates - its a bit like a savings plan (but without the interest)!

By the way, my name is Anna, not Barbs - phbarbs is my email username - I forgot to sign my real name at the end of my message lol!

It would be great if you could all come with me on a cruise, but I am not sure I would get much with $1000 - perhaps they would let us all sleep in the lifeboat and eat the buffet leftovers!

Anna..
You've listed reasonably good choices for your refund. However I believe you forgot the most obvious..... give Kuki the money and enjoy reading how he spent it.

This act of selflessness would be a boon to the entire CruiseMates Community as everyone would be able to share the experience through my written word. <VBG>

Even if I don't get the money... WELCOME to the CruiseMates Community!!

Give it to me and I will see that it is well spent. {{grin}}

Hey, how about us with kids that should be saving our refunds for college but choose to spend it furthering the cherubs education by taking them on an Alaskan cruise and trip. We will gladly help you spend yours even if it is in Pounds sterling.
Anne
Jack, we look at it as our play money also. It works for us like a vacation club account

I vote for using it in the casino and to increase your odds of winning put it all down on the pass line on the craps table. One roll of the dice..........double it or lose it. It's not a whole lot of fun but it's the best odds to double it. Then if you win you can pay for the any of the other choices you had.

Regards,
Thomas
