The last couple of years the newbuilds are featuring more balcony cabins than ever before, and I think because of this people are spending more time in their cabins than they used to... especially enjoying breakfasts or coffee in the AM.
Do you prefer to have breakfast in your cabin, in the dining room, or at the buffet?
I enjoy my first cup of tea on the balcony, then we move onto the buffet.

On a port morning where we have a morning tour, room service on balconey if we have one. On sea days (lazy days) the dining room , if it is assigned seating and we have our regular table and waiter. No dining room for open seating, breakfast just never seems to work well with open seating. Buffet and outdoor seating on any calm day .
Dining room always on the last day. Best way to enjoy that last bit of service.
Always in the dining room now. Mrs. Thomas is a late sleeper (she can't stand to see me in the morning) so I go to the dining room. I use to go to the buffet but really enjoyed eating more in the dining room with a table full of new friends and SERVICE!
Then I'll go to the buffet and pick up some bagels and fruit for Mrs. Thomas which I'll leave in the room for her, along with a pot of coffee. Then I'll haul butt out of there until the mad, one-eyed grump, has her shower and coffee and is able to be around.
Thomas....why don't you just open the door enough to just throw the food in... although, I don;t think the hot coffee won't go over too big. Does your wife read these threads? God help her. .
Anyway, we do the buffet and sometimes dining room. My husband (yes, I can bash also) is too thrifty (I'm being nice by not saying cheap) so he won't spring for a balcony.
But there is one exception, next May on we are on the Explorer and I booked myself a balcony for my big "50". Little does he know, there are going to be many more balconies in the future, if not suites. I guess then I can shower him with room service on the balcony and if he doesn't like it he can meet Thomas in the dining room.
On our recent Carnival Glory cruise, where Susie and I had an extra-large balcony, we had room service breakfast every day except one, and had a lovely breakfast out on the balcony each day. It was wonderful! The waiter delivering the tray was our wake-up call.
That being said, Josť and I usually have coffee delivered to the cabin and then go to the bbuffet. I like to go to the dining room once in a while for a nice sit-down breakfast, but JJosť prefers the buffet.
Up until the Glory cruise, I would have said the buffet but that room service was really nice! Plus I was able to get a bagel and lox every day, they didn't have it in the buffet area! It was our wake-up call and a good thing that we wake up easy!
I do like going to the buffet for the made-to-order omlets and to try different pastries! :-)
Next cruise, it will be back to the buffet for me!
