Default Whats your best recipe to get over a cold

Whats your best recipe to get over a cold? There is a whiskey called Rock and Rye, my husband swears by it for a cough.

I swear by zinc and echinachea (? on spelling), they can be purchased in Walmart or any drug store........Rock and Rye in hot tea....very soothing.

I could sure use some Rock and Rye right now, I've never heard of it in Canada. My mother swears by a good shot of rye before bedtime for a bad cold. As for me, probably rest is the best, but not always a possibility. I'm taking the day off tomorrow and see what happens...

I'm a Martini and Chicken Soup man -- one or the other will make you feel better.

I can't take echanecia (sp?)....I'm allergic to daisies and they are related.

However, my formula for getting over a cold is:

1) REST
2) Vitamin C 2x a day
3) Chinese Hot & Sour Soup from my favorite take out place down the street

A big mug of hot fruit flavored tea with three shots of rum in it (use some diet sweetener to make it low calorie). Repeat as needed!

For me it's rest, echinacea, zinc lozenges, zycam herbal nasal spray, and herbal tea.

Even with all those "cold-shortening" remedies, it still consistently takes me a week to ten days to get over a cold.

Cheers,
Michelle B.

Try "THE CURE". Drink one half bottle of anything 80 proof or higher. It will either cure you, or you won't care that you are sick.

No matter what I do, it always seems to hang on for a least a week, but the usual cold remedies do help keep the symptoms down. Feel better and God Bless you, when you start sneezing again.

Grapefruit is good, both as preventative and fighting a cold. I'm not sure why it is better than orange juice, but it is. A half grapefruit a day will keep the colds away.

I usually eat a dozen blue crabs and drink a pitcher of beer each day. It really does work. In a week or so you're cold is gone.

Thomas

My mother always used to feed me the "Jewish Grandmother Chicken " soup. After a couple of dishes of this soup I would feel much better.

Best thing to do is call in sick! I always feel 100% better once I call!
