Well, that's it, over for today, another move from h***. First of all, the friends, the help, and the truck that were supposed to move my daughter today all cancelled. I called every truck rental place this morning at 8a.m. but nobody had a truck. Finally I found a reitred guy with a truck from the newspaper and he agreed to come in an hour. I go to pick up my daughter, and she doesn't even have a key for the apt.! We go to the workplace of her roomate for the key, he's not at work, but still at home! Back to the apt. for the key, back to my house to meet the guy with the truck. Packed up, unloaded and moved in within an hour, pretty good. Then back to my mom's house (where my daughter's been living for a year) to get the rest of her stuff, which of course is not even PACKED yet. Another full carload later, we move all that stuff in. Forgot to mention that throughout the day there was a cold, blowing, blinding snowstorm going on which later turned icy cold and froze all the roads, driveways and walkways, making moving boxes very treacherous! Back home now to relax and collapse. There is a howling 80km/hr. wind blowing out there now, just hoping the power stays on! Tell me again, why do I live here?
Location: Wisconsin....about 100 miles south of the Frozen Tundra and 70 miles east of Camp Randall
Re: The move from h***
I feel for you Donna! But have to ask why your daughter was not a little more organized with her packing? Can't help all the others who cancelled (real friends would have shown up despite the weather unless they were deathly ill) - but thank goodness you are home and resting now. BTW - take extra care of that cold now!

As for your question about my daughter being more organized... she's 19. Need I say more? And my cold is feeling much better today, thank goodness, however, my daughter has been barking for weeks and I told her today I am personally escorting her to a clinic tomorrow to get some antibiotics, I'm sure she has Bronchitis or Pneumonia.
Donna I hope you have recovered from the move! 19..well I understand fully. Our daughter age 20 called us the day after Thanksgiving crying...all normal stuff for that age <money, boyfriend, jobs etc> They just need to grow up a bit more.
I hope you are getting some rest now since you are working and need to get well again ...<HUG>
