Default The move from h***

Well, that's it, over for today, another move from h***. First of all, the friends, the help, and the truck that were supposed to move my daughter today all cancelled. I called every truck rental place this morning at 8a.m. but nobody had a truck. Finally I found a reitred guy with a truck from the newspaper and he agreed to come in an hour. I go to pick up my daughter, and she doesn't even have a key for the apt.! We go to the workplace of her roomate for the key, he's not at work, but still at home! Back to the apt. for the key, back to my house to meet the guy with the truck. Packed up, unloaded and moved in within an hour, pretty good. Then back to my mom's house (where my daughter's been living for a year) to get the rest of her stuff, which of course is not even PACKED yet. Another full carload later, we move all that stuff in. Forgot to mention that throughout the day there was a cold, blowing, blinding snowstorm going on which later turned icy cold and froze all the roads, driveways and walkways, making moving boxes very treacherous! Back home now to relax and collapse. There is a howling 80km/hr. wind blowing out there now, just hoping the power stays on! Tell me again, why do I live here?

...ouch....and what about the cold you've been nursing? At least the move is over!

Angela Z., who still hasn't completed the move we started in October and is starting to think we never need to see the rest of the junk at the old house!

I feel for you Donna! But have to ask why your daughter was not a little more organized with her packing? Can't help all the others who cancelled (real friends would have shown up despite the weather unless they were deathly ill) - but thank goodness you are home and resting now. BTW - take extra care of that cold now!

As for your question about my daughter being more organized... she's 19. Need I say more? And my cold is feeling much better today, thank goodness, however, my daughter has been barking for weeks and I told her today I am personally escorting her to a clinic tomorrow to get some antibiotics, I'm sure she has Bronchitis or Pneumonia.

Ah 19...that says it all! I remember being 19 (vaguely) and can totally understand!

Yes, get her to the doctor on Monday.....gee I recall that when I was 19 someone had to do that for me and I did have bronchitis and after two weeks of antibiotics I felt vaguely human again.

I'm glad that you are feeling better!

Donna I hope you have recovered from the move! 19..well I understand fully. Our daughter age 20 called us the day after Thanksgiving crying...all normal stuff for that age <money, boyfriend, jobs etc> They just need to grow up a bit more.

I hope you are getting some rest now since you are working and need to get well again ...<HUG>

Donna,

I'm so glad to hear that the move is over and now it's behind you. What a day! What a MOM! Hope you can rest up a bit today with a nice warm drink and a fire in the fireplace.

Phyll

Nineteen huh? Geez, when I was 19 the Dead Sea was only sick!

At 18 my parents gave me a suitcase and a road map. Told me to write whenever I got an address. Dad didn't want her to, but Mom at least gave me a plate and a fork.

Hopefully your daughter will "make" it on her own and be sulf-sufficient.

Regards,
Thomas

Poor Donna! I hate moving even in good weather, but that sounds like a nightmare! Best of luck to your daughter. As for you, pat yourself on the back!

Cheers,
Michelle B.
