Default We are back from the Monarch!

Hi everyone,

If you haven't seen any other posts, we are back from the Monarch of the Seas on RCCL (arrived back Friday).

We had a wonderful time, and I lost 2 pounds!!! Lots of walking in port.

We have lots of photos to post of the ship, our cabin, and ports (I want to pen some port articles for Cruisemates for us West Coast people).

A mini-review ... a formal one to be done later this week ...

* Excellent service -- best waiter/assistant waiter in 5 cruises and a cabin steward who went beyond the call of duty to get us Sweet and Low and fix the toilet when maintenance was a no-show

* Ship -- beautiful! And so easy to navigate (there is something to be said for smaller ships)

* Ports -- we enjoyed fab-o sunny weather with tempartures 68-70.

* Food -- wonderful. Chuck was right -- key lime pie to die for.

* TV -- RCCL wins awards for it, and this was no disappointment. Great movies and sitcoms

* Cabin -- Glad we booked a disabled room. *Teeny* cabins otherwise.

* Embarkation -- 12 minutes from arrival till on board

* Disembarkation -- Yuck ... long. 2.5 hours of waiting and 40 minutes in customs after that.

And, upon arrival at home, we had our docs for the Feb. 1st sailing on the Cruisemates Pride sailing Feb. 1.

Wee!

Harry <--- counting the days till the aft balcony on the Pride.

Sounds like you had a great time. Lucky you, no pcd. Just enough time to do laundry, get things done, and repack for the next one.
Let us know when there are photos to view!

Welcome back....sounds like you had a wonderful time. Mike is right, just enough time to unpack, do wash and repack and you'll be off again. Will be waiting for the pics.

Don't know you or your situation, But I do hope that when you say glad you booked a Handicapped cabin as the others were small that you did so because you require that cabin and not because the others are smaller.

Mickie, we booked the cabin 3 weeks before sailing with the proviso that if a disabled person needed it, we would be kicked out.

Jeanne, thanks :-) ... that was sweet of you to say. My Mom is in a wheelchair parttime, so I had no problem giving the cabin up if needed.

And ... I felt a true obligation of documenting the cabin for future disabled cruisers. There is hardly *anything* online to give disabled cruisers an idea of what to expect. The one place I found had erroneous cabin size info.

Consequently, I just uploaded 10 pics of Cabin 2007 on the Monarch of the Seas on Royal Caribbean. I think this will give a good idea what to expect on an inside room on RCCL. Check the deck plan and see whether it jives with any RCCL cruise cabin you may be interested in. Hope this helps future cruisers -- there was nothing online to see a disabled cabin, so I am glad I could help.

Harry

That was so thoughtful of you to do, thanks Harry, my husband is disabled, but not wheel chair bound as yet, but having this information will help us in the future.
Just checked out your gallery pics, they were great and thank you also for the disabled cabin pics, very informative.
Jeanne
