Big cruise news on TV this morning over here. The report revolved around one Festival ship being held in Barbados due to financial woes. Found a short report about it and posted the link above.
The news here only reported about one ship (the link I provided reported three) docked in Barbados being under arrest. Passengers were not being allowed from the ship. What is to happen with the passengers, the cruise, etc. was up in the air until the ship builder, which Festival is in debt to, and Festival reaches an agreement. The following cruise has already been cancelled.
Imagine being "stuck" like that? What a major disappointment that would be. Letīs hope they get their problems resolved quickly!
karen, who was suddenly very awake at 5:00am when she heard that!
Morning, I haven't either., or this cruise letter thanks Karen, just spend over a hour reading and subscibing to< shoreTrips>. The things you learn on this board. Was to late for the Queen Mary.
Thanks again for all the great links in your post.
Einen guten Tag Auguste
Festival is a popular cruise line here in Germany. Ask here if someone knows Celebrity, RCI or Carnival and the answer will most likely be no. Costa, Festival, Aida, or Haapag Lloyd are the big names here. Variety is the spice of life!
tx cruisingks, i posted a note a few days ago about this happening in the DR. still no reponse from carnival. so i called again and was told when i asked if we would be told that its not recomended to go ashore in DR. after some himmm and hawwwwing, i was told "the ship gets into la roma at 5"00p , that is where u will be sleeping." so i asked again, can we get off the ship there, and he repeated thats where u will be sleeping. the tom ogg web site and ship arrests web site will tell u, but u have to know name of ship and line and what ever its called Panama, Libera, etc.
skip the shiparrest web site, try traverserver for detailed ship arrest info. seems they cant pay their bills. passengers were told to debark, settlement expected in 24 to 48 hrs. does that mean they are standing or sitting somewhere off ship till the bill is paid?
