Default Bahamas on the Sovereign

My husdand and I are leaving on Friday for the Bahamas. We just want to relax in the sun(we hope)! Can anyone give me some advice on the best way to do Nassau? Should we just head to a public beach-or purchase the RCCL excursion to the Crystal beach resort. Read about people booking rooms at comfort suites-yet they are all booked up. Also, have been reading alot of negatives about the ship-has anyone had a good time? Thank you. Look forward to hearing from anyone!!

We sailed the ship a little over a year ago; we enjoyed the ship. We had nice cabins and the service was pretty good. Food was pretty lousy, though. Especially if you like hot food.

We just took a taxi to Atlantis. Gambled a bit, saw the resort, and then taxied back to town for some shopping.

You can find your way to Atlantis, and hang out on the beach behind the hotel. The day we were there, the waves were way too high and the water was closed. We ended up taking a sailing tour booked locally near the bridge on the Atlantis side. If you just want to enjoy the sun, you don't even have to leave the ship.

We have cruised on Sovereign of the Seas twice - 2000 and 2002. We had a great time and the service and our room were both great. Our last cruise was on Celebrity and we thought the Millineum was beautiful-more pampering than Sovereign, but both are great. When we were in Nassau we went to Atlantis-the aquarium was great.
