Default I DID IT!! HE'S GOING!!!

Was reading the boards when he called me and said "check your email."

His email to me said: "I'll go. Let me know how to get in touch with the North Koreans who trained you. I want to learn their techniques."

Can't believe I talked my dh into cruising!! Thanks for cheering me on everybody and giving good advise!

Now.....5 day on the Sensation, or 7 day on the Glory....decisions, decisions.....

dorothy (who is DIZZY with excitement...)

7 on the Glory Dorothy! He will love you for it and you can let him think it was his great idea to start cruising afterwards. <VBG>

Way to go, Dorothy!. My suggestion is Sensation, and not just because I'm madly in love with that ship. With your husband's erstwhile hesitancy, 7 days might be too much for a first dose. You want him to feel the urge to book the next cruise. Five days aboard Sensation will provide just enough of a sample to make it feel too short, so he'll book 7 days on the one after. <tee hee hee>

Steve

Sensation 2/03 I disembarked, but never really left the ship.
Enchantment 9/03 Just had to go back.
Inspiration 3/04 Just have to go back again, and again, and again...

Congrats, Dorothy! I too suggest the five dayer, ONLY because he has been so hesitant about cruising. If he doesn't like it, five days isn't that long; if he does like it, you have incentive to book a longer one and probably sooner than you would think!

Way to go girl!!! It took me a long time to get my dh to go on a cruise as well. Booked him on a 10-day right off the bat. I figured if he didn't like it, I was at least going to have one that I enjoyed! By the end of the 9th day, he didn't want to get off the ship! We're starting to look at another one. YIPPEE!!

Woooo Hooooo Dorothy!!! I knew you could do it. (Tell him to send me my check back if he has a good time)

I agree with Steve, 5 days on the Sensation is just enough of a cruise to get him hooked if he likes it and not too hard on the pocketbook. And from what Troy Linton, CD on the Pride told me, the Sensation gets the highest rating in Carnival's fleet for overall customer satisfaction.

On the other hand, 5 days on the Holiday out of New Orleans doesn't sound bad either, hint, hint!

Regards,
Thomas

7 days on the Glory!!
That'll stop the whining you'll hear after having to get off after 5 days.

Way to go Sis (she really is) ......................... I can't believe you did it! I'm so excited for you, now the question is will he start reading the boards? I agree on the five day cruise, you'll probably start planning the next one as soon as you get back anyway! I can't wait to say "I told you so, after he goes & loves it" !!! Go Girl , Go Girl, Go Girl !!

Congrats Dorothy!! Have a great time. It took me years to talk my dh into taking a cruise. He thought he would get bored and not be able to get anywhere else. When he finally agreed, I booked a cruise with lots of ports, so he could leave frequently. He loved it, but still does not get anywhere near as excited as I do.

Dorothy, I agree with Seahunks. The wife and I did a 7 nighter for our first cruise and it wasn't long enough. Our next cruise (see clock below) is an 11 nighter. Congrats on getting him to go.

Congrats, Dorothy! Cruising with your husband is so wonderful and romantic, and I'm sure he will love it!

I would do the five day. That's how we started and it was just enough to get us hooked. And if by some misalignment of the planets we hadn't liked it, it wouldn't have been so long we were dying to be home, either.

Cheers,
Michelle P.

Congrats, Dorothy. Whatever length of cruise you pick, your DH will probably love it. As to the boards, I'm just barely getting my DH to read the postings on CM. He used to read a couple only if I begged. Now he's a little better, but not as addicted as I am.

Dorothy: I knew you could do it. Be prepared for both of you to become addicted. If your hubby is anything like mine, he will begin telling people cruising was HIS idea! Have a wonderful time.

I told him 20 CM buddies had already congratulated me and he said: "How can 20 people know you were trying to get me to go?"

As you can see, he doesn't come on the boards! Yet.......

New Orleans is actually in the running, Thomas. My son is lobbying hard for the 7 day on the Glory, of course. Of course, Steve and Tom's love affairs with the Sensation speak to me....

Thanks for all the kind words folks and for putting up with my "dh won't cruise" posts!

dorothy (I'm cruising with my hubby, I'm cruising with my hubby)

p.s. Did I mention we celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary this summer????? What an anniversary gift!!

Way to go Dorothy! I vote for the 5 day for the same reasons everybody else did....I also think he's going to like it so much that he'll want to book a longer one the next time...so you end up winning either way!
Angela Z., whose hubby has no problem cruising......we just need someone to buy our old house so we can book a cruise!

We all knew that you could convince hubby that cruising is the way to go. You can't go wrong with either cruise, personally i think that 5 day is just a teaser. Get a gang of people to go with you if you can, the more the merrier on a cruise.
PS got hubby hooked a few years ago with his first cruise being a 10 day TransPanama Canal cruise, if you get him started about cruising...............

Way to go Dorothy! Our first cruise was a 4 day. We went with some friends who were veteran cruisers and we had a great time. But having to fly to Miami from NY and back again, the hardest part was trying to force yourself off the ship and going back to reality. I would recommend the 5 day, only because it took you so long to convince DH to go with you. After you create "the cruisin' monster", then the longer trips will be a snap.

Cool! congratulations on your success! Now watch, he'll insist on going on 20 more after this one, he he. My fiance had to do a little bit of convincing to get me to go, but I think he knew I'd cave. My main reason is that I don't particularly like boats. On the other hand, I love to travel and see different places, so eventually I agreed to go. I'd do it again in a second, your dh will probably feel the same way.
