I figured I would ask everyones fl opinion. I am arrinving at ft lauderdale on a monday at 1150am for a cruise in miami. Is this pushing it a little. It was the only flight when I booked (should have waited) and was 150 dollars cheaper than flying into miami. What time do you think we will get to miami? If you think its pushing it? Does anyone know how to switch flight without a major penalty?
I just watched airline on A and E and Southwest Airlines had overbooked a flight to Fort Lauderdale by 53 people. There were many people very upset that they would miss the cruise. It surely makes sense to book your flight for the day before the cruise just to be on the safe side.
julianne, I saw the same show, and I couldn't believe that the airline over booked by that high of a number! And almost 1/2 of the stranded passengers where going on a cruise...I felt so bad for them. 2 cruises and I will only go a day ahead...
You should be okay. I took the Fascination cruise in Jan 2002. Our flight was delayed
2 hours and we arrived at Ft. Lauderdale at 1130. We used Carnival's transfer bus.
It will take about an hour from landing to leaving for the Port of Miami. The drive from
Ft. Lauderdale airport to the Port of Miami is about 45-60 minutes, depending on traffic.
Once you arrive at the port, it will take awhile to get your luggage transfered and checked
in with the cruise line. With all this in mind, you should be on board about 1 to 1 1/2 hours before the ship sails. I have flown into Ft. Lauderdale for Miami cruises twice now and
have found the price to be cheaper and the times better.
Thanks for the replies. Yes the ship leaves I think at 4 or 5. I figured it is enough time, as long as the flight leaves on time and there are no weather delays. But I guess now that it is paid I will just wait and see.
