Mortimer was walking through a cemetery one evening and stopping at a headstone the inscription read:
Here lies:
Two grandmothers with their two granddaughters;
Two husbands with their two wives,
Two fathers with their two daughters,
Two mothers with their two sons,
Two maidens with their two mothers,
Two sisters with their two brothers.
But looking at the markers, Mortimer noticed only 6 people were buried there. How can this be?
Sorry, Thomas, but the "puzzler" lobe of my brain doesn't kick in until about 4:00 pm. I shall take another look at this poser at that time and, if Michelle hasn't already solved it by then, I'll take a stab at it. (Please, Michelle, do it so I won't have to embarrass myself!)
That's true. If you remember a post from me before about how two boys are related when their fathers married each other's mother you have the same scenario. But only in Tennessee.
Sorry about the reference to Tennessee but Mrs. Thomas is from there and her family tree doesn't fork.
I gave up on this one and scrolled down to see if anyone else had answered it. Thanks, Jason. <G> This afternoon I am not willing to put in as much effort as I was this morning.
