Default regional travel commercials...

I have wondered recently, if the onlslaught of winter travel ads are done regionally, or by some deographics..I am in the Boston market, and all we are seeing this season is commercials for Sandals resorts, and Jamacia..A ta told me years ago, that the northeast is not an area that buys Jamacia, so maybe thats why they target us.In the past we have gotten Barbados ads.How about you..what are you seeing?? On a snowy cold night, a glimpse of anything Caribbean, hot and steamy, is a good thing..!!!!

Here in Florida I have seen commercials from Carnival touting special offers for Florida residents. Same for Disney World.

Cheers,
Michelle P.

Strangely enough, in the Montreal area, I've noticed alot more commercials for cruises, particularly RCCL, and that PBS one leaving from Montreal in June. Only the newspaper ads have ads for Sandals or Club Med.

In SoCal, we get a lot of commercials for Hawaii, surprisingly few for Mexico, and hardly any for the Caribbean, unless I just miss 'em. Incidentally, the commercials for Hawaii are for cruises, NCL, I think. On the radio, we are bombarded with commercials for Hawaii. Maybe other Southern Californians will chime in with other spots that they hear.

In Atlanta, lots of Sandals commercials and TONS of Carnival and RCCL. My son and I do the "cruise wave" whenever the cruise ads come on...can't really describe it, you'll have to sail with us in person to see it....

The cruiseline Aida does alot of commercials over here. They particularly like to show them right after the weather forecast. The commercials never focus on a location but on the ship making the promise that the sun always shines on a cruise ship.

Other travel ads that we´ve seen include Canada, Greece, and Sweden. It seems there is a little war between Canada and Sweden on which country has the most moose. :0)

In Wisconsin lots of tv ads for Florida (sorry, but Orlando/Kissimmee/St. Cloud just does not interest me), Carnival (I like the Girls Just Wanna Have Fun commercial, but probably won't cruise with Carnival again unless it is a special deal), RCCL, Celebrity and believe it or not, Alaska!!!!

On radio have a lot of ads for group travel to England, Hawaii, Canada/New England.

Around here the big ones are Carnival ("Fun, fun, fun until daddy takes the T-bird away"); RCCL ("Lust for Life"--unless that's my mondegreen-ism); and Celebrity.
They tend to run them year-round.
