Default passport picture specifications, a hoot!!

This past monday my sister and I went to a canadian passport office to get new passports. The wait was quite long so we read some of the posters they have in the hallway. One of them listed 10 new specifications for the passport pictures. Having just returned from a family cruise we were quite dissapointed when right there on the poster, specification #7 stated "no group pictures". And here we thought what a shame we couldn't use our $20US family picture with the ship in the background!! Do they think we are that dumb??? "yes sir, this is my family passport. I'm the one in the back. see my glasses? see my bangs sticking up in the air?"

Specifications here are even weirder (Quebec), although maybe it's Canada-wide:
We are NOT ALLOWED to SMILE in our passport photo!! Isn't that ridiculous? I guess this is because a terrorist wouldn't necessarily be smiling, but now we ALL look suspicious! Go figure....

I think the "no similing" grumpy look is just so that they can actually see what we look like. After all, on your way back from your trip after the airport, lost luggage, riipped luggage, and customs people which one do you really look like: grumpy or smiley??

I dunno... I'm smiling in my passport photo... although it's still an awful picture. It is from 1996 though so maybe they've changed the rules.

Cheers,
Michelle P.

We just got ours and they made us both smile at the passport place. it was so funny cause it was a mean snowy day and we were the only 2 there. The little girls were flirting some with my hubby and he thought they ought not do that with his wife present. I had to convince him later that they were really just treating us like the old codgers that we are.

Well, I went to AAA to get my passport photo which was accepted at the post office, and I was told neither or smile or not to smile, so I smiled for the photo. I think the people taking the pics are just trying to see how they can put stuff over on people...sheesh!!!

Enjoy!
