Over the years I've been lucky enough to meet a large number of members of our CruiseMates community in person....
on our CM group cruises, at pre arranged get togethers, or on roll call posts on the message boards, then arranged to meet on the ship. Have made some great friends, and we've even had quite a number come up to Calgary to visit us.
And over the years, have got to do more cruises with many of them as well.
How many of you have met folks "here" this way as well? And.. any stories to tell ? <G>
Unfortunately, on our Dec. cruise on Zenith we didn't meet a single person who would admit to being a CruiseMate.<BG> We even wore our CM t-shirts at several locations (casino, buffet breakfast, etc.), but nobody said "Hi, who are you?" or any such thing. A dealer at the Caribbean Stud table did ask what a "CruiseMate" was. I pretended that I hadn't heard him! lol
The sad part is, we did meet several folks who had posted on the "Are you sailing with me?" board on a competitor's website. It's too bad that CM doesn't have such a forum. The "Meeting on Board", or whatever it is called on CruiseMates, didn't help at all when I tried it. I guess we'll simply have to take a CruiseMates cruise one of these days.
I met a whole bunch of people who are now Cruisemates back in 98 when we had our first creamsicle bash, including the author of this post...When I tell you we had about 80 people, who never met one another, to someone watching our group, they would have thought it was a family reunion..It was awesome...And like other first time events..nonthing, to my mind has come close...Tweety and i hooked up and created life preserver name tags, and a memento for everyone to take home....The Marriott Marina was a happening place to be ..It was wonderful to meet so many...We also had a dinner in Fort Lauderdale, and Robo and his wife drove down to join in the fun.,..Believe it or not we missed each other in the same room....[lordy lordy} Ask Robo the rest of the story....Tweety and da Coot , came to my daughters wedding..Tweety, myself and many more went up to Calgary to help Kuki celebrate his sons Bar-Mitvah, and had the time of our lives...Like the Academy awards, I know I will leave someon's name out, but I have also had the pleasure to meetonna ,Mary lou, Anne and Paul..Cher..I think Tweety s is our own Perle Mesta, I bet she has met the most: Come on the Cruisemates Celebrity Cruise in October, and I can get to meet you too
I've also been very fortunate to meet and cruise with quite a few CM folks and I must say, its the best way to cruise. Just recenty met a few hosts that I felt like I've known for years, but never actually met, so we finally did on Voyager and it was the most wonderful expierence.
Have also had the please of cruising with Kuki and Geela twice and hope to again in the near future, great couple!
Just keep checking all the new Cruisemates cruises and come join the fun :-)
No, I/we haven't met anyone from CruiseMates yet, except on the boards. We are considering a couple of CruiseMate cruises, however; the one that sails from Galveston, and dare I say it? The one that does the West Coast! My husband likes that itinerary. I look forward to meeting a lot of CruiseMates on either of those cruises.
Yes, Jose and I have met quite a number of Cruise Mates, both on a Cruise Mates cruise and at land gatherings. Nothing beats getting together with a bunch of Cruise Mates!
Jack, what do you mean you haven't met any of us Cruise Mates? I could have sworn that you and Kim were at a Cruise Mates get-together last September at Bahama Breeze in Orlando! I could even bet on it that we were seated at the same table. I'll bet if I searched hard enough, I could even find a picture of us together! !
The Florida contingent here are a bunch of "party animals" We have had the pleasure of meeting the Orlando gang last Sept. Jack, yes you were there with Kim. Have had the pleasure of getting together w/ Angela outside of cruisemates at school for band stuff. Most recently we had a great get-together in Tampa and got a chance to meet Seahunks and Chris. Sue and her family joined us as did Joe and his wife. Ok, Thomas, you need to set one up at your restaurant. VBG. Michelle and Marc were there in Sept as were Ray and Helen. Kuki, and Mike, you just need to come south more often. Jen even came in from the desert to make that one in Sept.
I've had the pleasure to meet many, many of our fellow CruiseMates; too many to name.
And many have become very good friends. If you would have told me I would meet people on the internet, I would have told you that you are crazy. But, I would have been very, very wrong. This is a great group of folks here.

I've met a number of Cruisemates, both in a pre-cruise get-together in Ft. Lauderdale, and at the Orlando gathering. Never had the good fortune to go on a cruisemates cruise though. We'll go someday but I don't see it happening anytime soon, my vacation time is generally nil and we are constrained by Florida departure ports.
I have met a few people on cruises that were found on the cruisemates board. Most were people who post on and off on the board. I have met MikeM in person, not on a cruise but on a little get together that we occasionally have here in Minnesota.
I feel badly sometimes that I have only had the pleasure of "meeting" all you wonderful folks through posting here . We have not been able to connect on any of the Cruisemates Cruises nor have we had the pleasure of attending any of the Florida gatherings.
We will even miss those of you coming to NY in September as we are leaving for the Great Alasks/West Coast Adventure a few days prior to your cruise and coming home a few days after.
They say all good things are worth waiting for, so I patiently wait to meet all you nice folks.
While on the Majesty of the Seas earlier this month, my husband and I met 2 other
cruisemates. Jen and Nikki. Jen and I started emailing before the cruise and
talked several times during the cruise. Nikki posted her picture on this site and
I ran into her on the last evening of the cruise. I love this web site!!!
I was at the aforementioned Bahama Breeze lunch in September..........has it been that long ago? I'm looking forward to more get togethers. Haven't done a CM cruise yet but someday.....the get leid 2 is the same time as my daughters high school graduation and while she's also got the cruise bug I don't think she'd forgive mom for missing her graduation!
