I am so excited, I got a promotion at work so that means that we can save up faster and more for our 2005 cruise. We originally planned a 5 night cruise with a window out of Florida because of having to pay for airfare but now we can go for the 7 nighter with a balcony or a family suite.
Which cabin would work better for a family of 4 (kids will be 14 and 10) .. a balcony suite or a family suite?
Where is the best place to sail? I have been to Cozumel so I don't want to do that again?

Congratulations! ooh so much to choose from. I would go for a mini-suite with balcony. That should be fine for the 4 of you. What are your interests? It would be easier to help you pick if we knew what you and your family like to do.
Eastern= white silky sandy beaches with turquoise waters, snorkeling, water sports - great shopping. More at sea days
Southern = port intestive cruise- lots of variety to choose from ( one of my favorite cruises)
Personally, I would book two rooms. Maybe an outside with balcony for you and an inside for the kids. Most suites are not that much larger and by booking two rooms you have two bathrooms.........a big plus.

Thanks for suggesting the inside and balcony cabins. I was thinking about that option too just to get the extra bathroom.
We like to browse shops but don't spend much, beaches are a plus, and I like to have at least 2 days at sea so I can sit, eat, and do nothing but watch the world go by.
Does that help any with suggestions on where to sail?

another point to ponder on purchasing 2 cabins, we were going to do just that, but it ended up being cheaper to purchase 1 mini-suite instead of 1 outside balcony and 1 inside standard cabin.
on the suggested itineary - Eastern Caribbean would suit you perfectly, and on Princess leaving from Ft. Lauderdale you have 2 full sea days right off the bat before you cruise into St. Maarten. We loved having the 2 sea days right off - gives you a chance to relax, get into the "cruise groove" and get to know the ship.
after St. Maarten we cruised to St. Thomas - then another full day at sea until we reached Princess Cays (Bahamas). It was a great relaxing, beach itineary.
