As I walked the aisles of the supermarket, my heart skipped a beat...There it was, the mother lode....A gigantic sign proclaimed for all to see: EASTER CANDY 50 %) off !!
I looked around to see if anyone else saw what I saw......Stealthly, as any middle age woman, can do, I pounced upon my precious commodity...PEEPS !!! So many colors to choose from, nice and fresh, although, between you and me, I eat them stale too...
What was I do do? Drag my arm across the shelf, and let them ALL fall innocently into my shopping cart? No !..I decided to be a smart cookie, and just take a couple.....Smart enough to know, in a few days, I will be seeing my precious cargo at 75 %... ha ha ha..
Trip........how I remember those days.......this was my first Easter since being diagnosed diabetic and I was realizing yesterday how much I miss the after Easter discount buying....have some Peeps for me.........my kids like to watch them pulse in the microwave.
Other adults like Peeps? I have addict friends into the chewy, sugary marshmallow confections? I LOVE them! They come before chocolate (except white chocolate, which comes before Peeps).
I have a schedule of sweets:
1. White Chocolate-ears first
2. Peeps any color, but prefer original yellow chicks
3. Darker chocolates with nuts
4. Anything else chocolate
5. No mixing fruit flavor with chocolates.
6. Do Not Like Jelly Beans, no way no how.
Mike, I'm on my way to your house. You have definitely lost it. Hold on, help is on the way! You had me ROTFL, plus a few more letters! again, and if you ever decide to create a Peep Patrol , let me know, I'll enlist. Can't stand'em either.
Trip, I was at the grocery store the other day, and there was an ENTIRE basket filled with HUGE, and I mean HUGE Nestle Milk chocolate plain candy bars. These suckers were bigger than the ones at the movies! And they were priced at 79 cents each! I'm not a chocolate addict, but I do enjoy plain milk chocolate once in awhile. Man, it took all my will power to walk away from that "mother lode". After Easter mark-downs must be torture for candy freaks.
Personally...I can only tolerate one once in a blue moon (they make peeps year round...have you noticed?....Star shaped peeps for the 4th, bat and pumkin shaped peeps for halloween and yes x-mas tree peeps for christmas). But the bunny and chick peeps are always the best to put in the microwave and watch them get really big and turn into fat bunnys and chicks. Now thats cheap entertainment for the 50% off easter candy...lol.
Trip, my weakness at Easter (other than chocolate) is jelly beans...but they have to be the good ones. I can take or leave the peeps.
OMG Mike....I was laughing so hard at your post!

I finally ate one of my Peeps from Easter (OK it was two, there's no way you can eat just one!) last night. I've been trying to behave myself. After losing 15 lbs since Xmas, I didn't want to gain it all back in two weeks. Stale Peeps are the only way to go!
Did find some Cadbury's Caramel Eggs that were marked down. Did also get some Cadbury's Creme Eggs before Easter, but can't find any now. Being from the UK those eggs are like gold dust, so I stock up on them when I can. Don't like Peeps. Just too much artificial colouring in them for my taste. But everybody to their own.
