Default Sand Hill Cranes

Just thought you might like to see these awesome birds in my back yard. They are on the 13th hole of the Jupiter Golf Course. Try hitting a ball and missing these guys. :-)
There are actually 7 of them out there.

Cool! We have some big cranes like that in my backyard every once in a while, not sure if they are the same species, though.

Cheers,
Michelle P.

I could do it easily Phyll, I would just aim for the birds and be certain to miss them.

Now I understand what the golf lingo means to get a birdie!

Thomas

Phyll, We are on the 18th tee and have the sandhill cranes also. They are neat looking but I hate when they call to each other, noisy!!! We had some neighbors that fed them and so when they left for the summer the cranes pecked their screens out looking for something to eat. They were warned about feeding the wild life, but you know how some people can be. Aren't you just loving this weather we are having?

Phyllbo,
You have solved a mystery for me!!!

While in Vegas a couple weeks ago I bought a crystal that they use lasers to etch 3-D figures inside the crystal. The one I purchased has a pair of Cranes etched into it and I knew I had seen these birds before but couldn't remember what they were.

A Big Thank You!!!

We get a family of sand hill cranes every year about this time, Phyll, although I don't think they're the same family each year. They are basically fearless and friendly. I've seen them walk into the street, and not even flinch when a car approaches. But they usually stay out back, near the lake and out of harm's way. Call me an outlaw, but I feed them bread as I do to all birds in my yard. But I never feed the 'gators! <S>

Cool, if you stuff them and spray paint them pink they would look like lawn flamingos.

You guys are funny.

Jack, I think it's illegal to feed them so be careful. Also, I've heard that eating human food really does a job on their bone structure.

These guys think they own the place. Last year there were two ,and now we have the whole family, and like Jeanne said, they sure make a racket.

This weather is perfect, Jeanne. I hope it's this nice in WI when I go back in June.

Phyll

It always amazes me the kind of wildlife we have here in Florida. Nice picture!
