Well, we're back from the Spirit, boo hoo hoo!

We left the Carnival Spirit yesterday morning in San Diego, kicking and screaming! I can't believe how fast those 16 days went by! There were so many highlights in among all the relaxation and sleeping! I have to wean myself from sleeping so much this weekend, because on Monday it's up again at 5:00 a.m. and back to work!

One quick comment about this 16-day cruise. As you have all heard before, the longer the cruise, the higher the median age of the passengers, and this one was no exception. In 16 days, we disembarked 15 either ill or injured passengers and their traveling companions. We had to make an unscheduled stop in Kingston, Jamaica, and sped up to get to both Puerto Vallarta and San Diego hours before our scheduled arrivals to get people to the hospital. We disembarked one ill passenger right in the Gatun locks of the Panama Canal, and in Costa Rica we had already left the pier when we had to return to send another one to the hospital. On a cruise like this, don't plan to get from one place to another on the ship in any kind of a hurry, because the proliferation of walkers, wheel chairs and scooters (Larks?) prevents quick movement! Lest anyone get offended by these comments, let me make it clear that I am only commenting on the cirucmstances of the cruise and not complaining.

It was a great cruise. I did my level best to eat and drink enough for all of you. LOL! Now, who's going to come over to my house and cook dinner tonight?

Welcome back to reality.
I do know what you mean about the longer cruise-- and the older generation--- not knocking them either but my husband refers to out Panama Canal cruise as the cruise from hell--- just for that reason---- he kept being grabed--- people were using him to steady themselves and it was rough seas--. now if it were women maybe he would have a different feeling.
Hope you miss the rain in AZ--- that my daughter was talking about.
Rest up-- its back to work in a few days
Cheers
April

be kind, remember you will become part of the "higher meduim age group" much sooner than you realize (smile)..welcome back, not only do you have to worry about who's coming over to cook, you have to worry about who's going to make up your room in the morning

Welcome back Jen, you were missed. Sure sounds a lot like ours when we did it, but had a wonderful time despite any of the minor inconveniences.

Can't wait to see your pictures.

Jennifer, I'll come over and cook if YOU do the dishes! lol I can make hamburgers and macaroni and cheese. Which do you prefer?

Glad to have you back. Watch out though for PCD. It may be worse with a 16 day cruise!

Welcome home Jennifer and Jose.

We're glad to have you back with us, and glad to hear you had such a fantastic cruise. Sorry to hear that you have to jump right back into the work force. I hope you'll post some of your pictures for us and continue with the reports.

Knowing you as I do, I understand when you say you are not complaining about those inconveniences just reporting how it was. That is good information to know when thinking about taking a longer cruise.

Phyll

Mike, I loved your remark:

"I have also found that the longer the cruise, the higher the median age. Nothin wrong with that. I find they are the best trivia players."

You are correct in saying the above cause older folks like me can remember everything that happened 30 years ago but can't remember what we did yesterday. LOL But, even though you are just a young whippersnapper, you do pretty well as a trivia player. I have my wonderful "ship on a stick" - thanks to you.

Welcome to the "real world" Jennifer and Jose! I have never cruised that long but hope to someday. I bet it was hard getting off after that long. Good luck starting the work week again Monday.

Welcome back!

You know what I can't figure out? Why do they call them the golden years, when the hair is silver or blue? Anybody know?

Re: Re: Well, we're back from the Spirit, boo hoo hoo!

does this indicate an older crowd for the Panama Canal cruise and are the seas normally rough during this particular itinerary? Hubby and I are contemplating a Panama Canal cruise in November and would like some input into this situation.

Welcome back Jennifer and Jose! I'll get to work on removing the cruise-specific stuff from your signature so you can use it indefinitely.

Cheers,
Michelle P.
