Default Hotel close to Port of Tampa

Need ideas....we want to drive in the day before and visit the Florida Aquarium the Saturday before we depart. What is a nice, close to port hotel in Tampa/Ybor?

Hi
There are many hotels in the downtown area. I don't know what you want to spend. go to hotels.com or discount hotels.com

Price not really the issue, more the location. I have never been to Tampa for any significant amount of time and don't know the area. Main criteria is close to the Port of Tampa.

If you do a four star bid on Priceline, you can get the Grand Hyatt which is an outstanding property plus you can park your car there for free for the duration of your cruise, but you'll need to take a cab to the pier.

Our accepted bid was $56 per night and it was wonderful.

Thanks Chuck.

Researched the Grand Hyatt - looks fantastic. Booked a room - didn't want to risk not getting that hotel using priceline.

Called to verify free parking, cab fare to port, etc.... exactly what we were looking for.

If you can ask for the "Casitas." These are beautiful units with great gardens, streams, Koi ponds, walking trails, a beautiful boardwalk, and the bird sanctuary.

The "Oystercatchers" restaurant has incredible seafood and is not your typical corporate hotel restaurant. The Main lobster and Stone Crab Claws are both dishes we found to be outstanding. It's a very comfortable casual yet beautiful restaurant with great service. The restaurant is very close to the "Casitas."

Happy Planning!

Oystercatchers also has a top notch Sunday brunch. We're taking our first CCL cruise, but from Miami on Victory (4-25).
