Default Poll: Transatlantic Crossing

The new CruiseMates' group cruise on the Carnival Liberty in October 2005 got me to thinking (happens every once in awhile).

How many cruisemates have a transatlantic cruise notched on their belt?

Not me, but October 2005 may just be the perfect time to remedy that!

One so far and the new one booked. Come on CA, one of these days you will have to break down and come with us again.

Linda fingers crossed that you can work these miracles.

We did an west to east crossing, and it was amazing. Seas were like a bathtub, weather was like the Caribbean. Now we're coming back the other way to collect on all those 1 hr time changes we lost<G>

The combination of terrific ports of call.... and 16 days of CruiseMates fun made this one impossible to pass up!

Having tons of cruisemates along would make it even more special!!

Hi Gang, we have do one before on the Golden Princess. Ft. Lauderdale to Barcelona
in May, 2002. What a wonderful trip. We love those sea days. Now we are looking forward to the new "Liberty" and so many wonderful fellow Cruisemates are signing
up to go. We will be going on a cruise June, 2005 (Constellation) to the Baltics, so
we will see Europe twice in 2005. We are so lucky!! John & Priscilla

So far, we've done two: FL to Barcelona on the Grand Princess in 2000, London to NYC on the QE2 in April,2004. Both Keith and I love a lot of at-sea days, but serene ones, not like on the QE2 where we experienced gale force winds.

Several aboard the QE2...but its been a while. I wish more ships did 10-15 day crossings during the summer months. I know HAL will be doing one in summer 2005 but I cant get way for 17 days.

Cunard no longer holds any facination for me.

We have one TA under under our belt so far and that was on the Legend when it hit so many ports in and around the UK and enroute. We are also looking to sail on the Liberty but not the TA, rather the Med cruise as that is the one that goes to all the interesting and historic ports.

We have cruised from London to Boston on Vision in 1998 and from Florida to Barcelona in 2000.

We now have two more booked. The first is from Copenhagen to New York City for 16 days on August 27th. and the second is the Cruisemates cruise from Rome to Ft Lauderdale in Oct 2005. Both are 16 days.

Trans-Atlantic cruises used for repositioning are generally more reasonably priced for the number of days than regular seven day cruise, and the mixture of sea days and portsis a lot of fun.

I realize it might be better to get a life, but long cruises are really fun!

When I first came to CM..I had never cruised..never owned a digital camera..never posted a picture...never had a froo froo drink..and never used a Transderm patch or even knew what one was...As much as I would love to branch out a little more on a TA cruise...I will catch the next one..because you see there is still one thing I Have not done..FLY !!! on a commercial plane....you people are a baaaad influence on me.(sitting here drinking a non-alcoholic froo froo)looking at this new digital camera and still wondering what the heck I am doing and watching that pop-up ad for Transderm patches...I LOVE this place..I would love to go on this one.>VBG<

One fabulous cruise on the Costa Atlantica in 2000 when she was brand new - from Genoa, Italy to Lauderdale. Loved the ports and the sea days - after all - it was a cruise - what's not to like?

Would do it again in a minute.

We have done 5 transatlantics on QE2 the latest was May 2003.
We love it. 6 nights 5 days on the seas and nothing but seas. all of the crossings have been in May or Junes and the seas were calm.

We sailed on the brand new Carnival Legend from London (Harwich) to New York in September 2002, and loved every minute. It was the north Atlantic route with ports of call in the UK, Iceland and Newfoundland. Interesting ports and calm seas.

We're seriously looking at the Carnival Liberty crossing in October 2005. Maybe we can join the CruiseMates group cruise!

Will & Muriel...

We'd be delighted if you join "the gang" on the Liberty crossing. Since you've experienced one, no need to tell just how much fun they can be.

Think the Liberty will be especially good because of the great ports of call in Europe which are included.
