...but I have never cruised with any hurricanes being in the area before...
Charley may be just west of Port Canaveral on Saturday, I am sure there will be a lot of rain and wind. Will the ship stay in port until Sunday (with us on board) until Charley passes or will it's goal be to get out to sea as quickly as possible??
Also, we only have a 50 mile drive to port, but might it be better to stay at a hotel near port the night before? This will eliminate any travel delays we may have on the BeeLine between here and there on Saturday due to the weather. What would you do?
Jodi

I'd drive down the day before and stay at a hotel, just in case.

We cruised once when a tropical storm was due to hit our departure port. I do recommend staying in the area the night before.
Make sure the cruise line has a number at which they can contact you (like your cell phone number) in case the cruise is cancelled or delayed. There ought to be a number in your documents you can call to give them that information.
On our cruise, we did depart on time so I'm not sure what they'll do if the storm hits while the ship is still in port waiting to depart.
Tropical strorm Charlie ,soon to be a huricane, will be on the Gulf Coast by Friday AM
I work on St.Pete Beach so, I very concerned. Bonnie is headed to the Panhandle at Panama City and where the curve in Florida is.

Hi UConn1, If you can get aboard the ship safely, and I'd be willing to bet that you can, the Captain will do whatever he needs to do to keep you and all the others aboard safe. This may well mean missing ports etc, but I can tell you with certainty that you will be safe, and if you brought your Bonine, you'll have a great time. We have cruised many, many times when storms were in the area, and have never yet missed a cruise because of the storms. Have a great time, and DON'T WORRY.
Best regards,
Ken
