We just booked a last minute cruise (in 2 weeks) leaving out of the port of New York. We will fly into Newark. We are unsure of the best way to get to the port from the airport. A taxi seems a bit high priced. Apparently over $50. Are there trains or buses that are more reasonable? If so? How to get to them? Keep in mind that we are both senior citizens who are both fairly healthy but not exactly musclebound either and will have both a large checked bag and a smaller carry on bag each. Any assistance will certainly be appreciated. While we have cruised before, never out of New York before. Thanks in advance.
Check with your Travel Agent and see if the cruise line offers transfers from EWR to the port. Or call the cruise line direct to get the transfers. Being 2 weeks out it might be iffy, but give it a try..
We got transfers from NYC port to Newark on our return from the transatlantic cruise this September.

Y2C has the right idea but if that is not available I definitely would not try a train. You can check to see if there is a shuttle from the airport to the city but if that is not available I'd do the taxi.
