A couple of you were asking about the Sailport. We stayed there the night before our cruise and it was a pretty nice place to be. It wasn't extravagant - but every room views the water - and it was clean.
There are 3 restaurants within walking distance, which was good since we had flown in and did not have a car. We ended up having dinner in Whiskey Joe's - a nice, casual place setting right on the water. Very informal - so you can go in shorts and be comfortable. Reasonably priced also, as is the Sailport. There isn't much else within walking distance - so if you want to see the sites, you'll need to either get a taxi or rent a car. We were content to sit on the deck and watch the water and relax.
We paid an additional $25 and they transported us from the hotel to the Port - and when we returned to Tampa - we called and they transported us back to the airport, all included in that same price (and that was for the 4 of us that were in our room) - so we felt that was pretty reasonable. If you want to do this - make the arrangements as soon as you arrive !!
I hope you all have a cruise as GREAT as ours. Now we'll start thinking about the next one.
