Off topic..LAX shut down and explosion

Fox news just reported that LAX is shut down and there has been some type of explosion....Man..both coast are getting it. 3 terminals have been shut down and traffic is being deverted.

CNN says a flash light with corroded batteries exploded, injuring 7. Go figure that could cause that much damage.
And a suspicious character in another terminal, so they shut down the airport.

A suspicious character in California??? Must be a couple million or so of those <G>

I find it hard to belive that corroded batteries in a flashlight would cause that much damage..why would someone take a flashlight in that shape on a flight?..I know that was CNN reporting though. Thanks Kuki..stay safe up there in the snow country..>VBG<

I cannot belive some of those reporters out on the beach trying to report the damage and the surge..including Geraldo..those people I have a hard time feeling sorry for. they are taking the very risk that the Govt and Authorities are trying to protect everyone from...Duh..Duh...Dumb...plain and simple.

Security incidents close LAX
Saturday, September 4, 2004 Posted: 1:32 PM EDT (1732 GMT)

(CNN) -- Los Angeles International Airport was closed Saturday after two separate security incidents, an airport spokesman said.

In one incident, airport police were responding to reports of a "suspicious person."

The other involved a flashlight with corroded batteries that exploded in Tom Bradley International Terminal.

Seven people were hurt by that explosion.

The Department of Homeland Security had a different account.

The agency said that an explosive detection system machine got a positive reading from a corroded battery in a flashlight.

DHS reported that it was not aware of any explosion or injuries.

The area was evacuated as a precaution.

A LAPD bomb squad remains on the scene.

The suspicious person was actually a person using an exit for an entrance, thereby missing the security check station, just like what happened in Atlanta a while back. Probably someone afraid they were going to miss their flight again.
