Default Frances has begun to move

New news just out at 1700. Frances is now moving towards Sturart and going directly across the State. she will be passing just North of Tampa.

Our beaches are being destroyed.

We've been having rain off and on and wind off and on and sunshine off and on.....ready to get this show on the road! We've lost power twice but just for a few minutes.....we know the big outage is coming........my husband has turned the A/C down to 70 to keep the house a little cooler a little longer when we do lose power but my daughter and I are freezing........hanging out in sweat pants and sweatshirts! Our neighbors across the street have lost power already.

Angela, I am also in sweats - but I have my air turned down to 65. I want to stay cool as long as I possibly can without freezing up my AC.

This thing is still moving at a walking pace and it is getting very frustrating. Looks like Ft Peirce or Vero but still can't be sure due to it's waobbling and slow speed. Ray is right about it hammering the beaches. Sylvia and I just came back from running down to the beach and these billions of tons of sand they put here last year for beach renourishment are just about gone already! Feel like you are being sandblasted and the winds are not that high here yet. Gusts only about 40+ I guess. It will really get to us in Florida tomorrow with lots of rain and at least tropical storm winds everywhere with many getting hurricane force.

I've been looking at Francis all day and it certainly is moving slowly, which I think makes it much worse, hope there isn't major flooding and damage. You guys keep us posted..

I've been watching Frances all day too. As much as I can stand it anyway. I've talked with my brother in the nursing home in Boynton Beach and so far they are all ok.

It's good to hear from you Ray, Jim, Angela and Jodi. Looks like you are in for a rainy windy night. Hang on and stay safe, and keep us posted as much as possible.

Phyll

It looks like Frances has made or is very close to making landfall in the Palm Beach area. The rain bands are coming in across the state. And they've just issued tornado warnings for mid-state (Polk County) until 11:45 EDT tonight.

The Tampa Bay area (where I live) is expecting heavy rain all day Sunday. Of course, tornadoes are possible anyplace in Frances's path. There are 7,000 people without power in Hillsborough County - it had been more.

Moved my pool furniture to my house wall - now just concerned about getting heavy rain which would mean I'd have to drain it some. (As it's fiberglas, you can never empty it.)

We've had some branches down and I found a mover's cardboard box which had been blown next to my pool bird cage.

This is nothing. Really feeling sorry (and praying) for all the people on the East Coast.
